town last Friday.

Miss Emma Calfas, of Dashwood,

Mr. George .Volland arrived home
from Detroit on Wednesday- even-
ing and will remain for a few weeks.
A. H. Francis, the popular soloist
of Toronto will render it number of
selections at the concert tomorrow
evening.

Dr. Heist and wife, of Crediton,
also Mr. S. Brown and wife of the
same place, spent Sunday in town
with friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Schneuk, of Milver-
ton, have been the guests of the
latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hy.
Greb, the past week.
One of the greatest mistakes in
corn growing is too many stalks in
a hill. Three stalks with one good
ear each will give the biggest yield.'
Mr. J. E. Myers, who eves on the
stat of the Sovereign Bank.Exeter,
has been appointed teller in the
branch which has been opened at
Wyoming.
Mr. Chris. Schrag is now com-
fortably settled in his dwelling,
which he bought from Mr, J, D.
Merner and had moved to its pres-
ent position.
Quite a number intend taking
the Model Farm excursion to
Guelph on Saturday, June 11th.
The excursion train leaves Henstill
at 7.45 in the morning.

A petition has been passed around
town and as all the business men
have signed it, next Friday June

R.ev. Father Forster, parish priest
at Bothwell, hes been appointed by
Bishop AleEvay to succeed the late

He entered on his duties at Mt.

Mr. -Fred. Leibold, agent for . the
Frost Fence, reports business very
brisk this season. He has already
put up nearly two ton of coil
spring wire, not including the up-
righes and has nearly that much
more to put up.
The forty hours devotion services
will begin in the Catholis church
next Sunday, June 12th, English
services will be held on Sunclay
morning at 9.30 and Sunday even-
ing at 7.30 o'clock,on Monday even-
ing at 7.30 and Tuesday evening at
7.30 o'clock. Father Herm of Chat-
ham will condnct the English ser-
vices.
Mr. John Haberer, of Park Ra-
pids, Minnesota, is the guest of his
brother, Mr. Jacob Haberer, on the
Blind lino. His step -brother Mr.
Fred I ilgus, of .Louisville Kentucky
is also .his guest at present. Mr.
:Engles has not been in Zurich for
twenty-one years and notes many
changes in the place and people.
Mr. Julius Bloch has sold. his
heavy team of greys to Mr. C. Ma-
son, of Brucelield. The price real-
ized was $410. The standard of
horses in this section is being

Mr. H. Arnold, manager of the
Sovereign Bank at Hensel', was in
town Wednesday evening.

Zurich's Big Day., We hope all
will join in. making it asuccess.

Town Hall here next Monday. Some
interesting cases are on the docket.

Mrs. Rau has moved into the
house vacated by gr. C. Schrag,
and which she bought from Mrs.
McCormick.
Mr., Ed Axt has purchased a 3
year old colt from Mr. John M.
Oesch for $150.00. The colt is a
promising one.

illustrated songs is sure to please

Inspector, is making his usual
tour of inspection through the
'western part of the Township.

under the auspices of the Zurich

inspected the books of the Zurich
and Dashwood branches last Fri-
day and Saturday.
Mr. Ed Bossenberry reports a
brisk business in the\wind mill line
having sold no less than five mills
in the last few ween:,, He handles
the celebrated 'Imperial" mills.
The Sovereign Bank of Canada
have purchased the private bank-
ing business of Mr. Jitcob Fuller,
Theclford, rind will open a branch
there. Mr. Puller has been appoint-
ed manager.
On Saturday, June; 18th, the
Toronto Globe will celebrate its
Diamond Jubilee or the sixtieth
anniversary of its founding. The
first number of the Globe was pub-
lished in 1844.

Mr. W. G. Hess has torn clown
his bicycle shop and in its place
will erect a more suitable and con-
venient one. The building torn
down -was built about 355 years ago
and was one of the first ones erect-
er'. in Zurich.

Mr. Geo. Buxton. who at one
time owned the Kuntz brewery,
Godericli, and later proprietor of
the Colborne House, Goderich, has
bought the Waverly House,Clinton,
and will take possession this week.
Mr. Buxton is known to many in
town as ho at ono time delivered
the product of his brewery here

Messrs. F. Hess Se Son have turned
out some nobby rig the past eew
weeks. Among them we may reten-
tion an open buggy, with bicycle
wheels and cushion tiros. This is
a very handsome rig and the piir-
ehttser, Mr. J. D. Merrier, of town,
feels justly proud of it. On Monday
they sold a rubber -tire top buggy
to Mr. James `Hagan, Sr. of Hills
Green.
The crops in this vicinity are
looking fine and the growth is ad
vancod nearly as far as it was at
ti.tis time last year. The weather
conditions have been very favorable
although a little loss rain and more

hay crop is expected to be a bumper
