Mr. and Mrs.. John Hey visited
their daughter in ,Dashwood on
Tuesday,
Mrs. John Decher spent Monday
with her sister, Mrs. Fre,c1 Willert,
who still continues very ill.
Mrs. Broderick who has spent
some time this winter with her son,
Mr. Geo. Broderick, of the Babylon
line, has returned to her home in.
Michigan.
Mr. Walter Amous formerly of
Ingersoll has engaged for the sum-
mer with Mr. Henry Neeb. Arthur
and Leonard Rennie have also
seoured positions for the summer
the former with Mr. Jno. Robinson
near Chiselhurst, the latter with
Mr. Geo. Whitmore of the Bablyon
line.
Mr. Leo. Foster had the misfor-
tune to cut hie hand rather severely
last week while climbing over a
fence.
Miss Laura Horner spent Sunday
with her cousin, Miss Annie Hey.
Mr. John A. Decher was fortun-
ate enough to capture a fine racoon
when coming home from the bush
on Saturday,

Miss Lizzie Eilber, who has been
-working in Detroit for some time
past, returned home Monday night
last.
Eight new recruits have been
added to the Evangelical choir of
this place making a total of 26
members and is at present one of
the largest in the county.
Mr. Wm. Lewis has been confined
to his bed for the past few week's,
but is on the mend.
Special services for easter in the
Evangelical church and a special
easter program has •been prepared
by the Sunday school and instead
of the regular Sunday school will
take the form of an open school„
when all the parents and friends
are invited to be present, in the
afternoon the pastor will give an
object lesson.
Mr. Jacob Heist has his bills out
for his sale for Monday next. Mr.
H. is breaking up house keeping.

in town Wednesday visiting the
former's brothers.
Mr. Charlie Silber and his sister,
Dora, were visiting friends in town,
Wednesday.
Miss Gibson, of Blyth, has arriv-
ed and will take charge of Mr. J.' C.
Kellerman's millinery department.
Mrs. W. Heyrock returned hone
Sunday after spending a week with
her sister, Mrs. E. P. Paulin.
Mr. and Mrs. T. Cook. of Henshall,
were in town Saturday.
Mr. S. Hardy returned home
Tuesday after taking a trip to
tiff ingliani, Palmerston, Durham
and Rocky Sa ugeen. '
Mrs. C. Miller, who sold her farm
td ;:,Ir. Kraft, has purchased the,
home formerly owned by Mrs. J.
Oolosky.
Miss Leah Colosky has returned
to town ;after spending a few
months in London.
Miss Ruth Fenn entertained a
number of her little friends at a
birth -clay party on Monday evening.
Quite a number of people living
at the east end of the town were
greatly surprised on Friday morn-
ing on finding their cellars half full
of water. In one house the water
got into the kitchen.

home formerly owned. by Mrs.
Kellerman.

A petition is being signed to have

prevent the cellars being filled
with water every spring.
On 'Sunday Rev. Dr. Medd preach -
a sermon in the morning on behalf
of the educational fund and at the
close of the service administered
the sacrament In the evening he
preached on evils of gambling to a
very large and attentive audience;
To -day Mrs. Rev. Medd went to
Leamington to visit her sister.
On Monday of last week our
band had, a very successful concert.
This time We were over three
weeks without a freight train.
After the mild weather of yester-
day and to -day it is thought that
the G. T. R. will not have much
more trouble.
Our council has arranged to have
twenty-two 32 candle power elec-
tric lights in place of fourteen 50
candle power.

turned from a lengthy • honeymoon
spent up •north where .the snow
drifts are mountains height.. -
Dr. Gunn of Clinton was in the
village one clay last week.
Mr.. Snaith has been feeding a
number of hogs for weeks but was
able to ship them this week as we
had a freght train from the north
last night and ono from the south
this morning. The grocers • were
out of granulated sugar, T. and B.
tobacco and a number of other
lines. Two ears of coal, ordered
over two months ago, cane for the
electric light plant. You were in
error some .,weeks ago in saying
that our electric light plant had to
close nn account of want •of fuel.
When there wits no coal, there was
wood, but the service was slightly
reduccc..
Oii Friday afternoon last a valve
blew out ,of the electric light plant
and Mr. Welshhad to send to Galt
for a inn to make necessary repairs

Miss Mu cir. Pfaff'., of Dashwood,
met the 1.:.v. Mr. Effort, Pastor of
tho Liatlleran church here, and used
very insulting language. Mr. Eifert
laid a charge against her before
the J. P. at Zurich.,on the 21st inst.
and the ease .was to conic off on
Monday, 28th. But Miss Pfaff, see-
ing herself in the wrong, went to
Zurich on the • 25th and asked the
JL P. to have Mr. Eifert withdraw
the charge, apologized, and promis-
ed never to repeat the performance.
