Successful Jubilee.
The 25th anniversary of the
dedication of, the Lutheran church
was fittingly celebrated'on Sunday
last in the church of this flourish-
ing coneregation and large crowds
attended both morning and evening
services. Rev. F. Veit, of Tavis-
tock, preached a very able sermon
in the morning, and Rev. Blunk, of
Rostock, occupied the pulpit at the
evening service. The church choir,
led by Mr. P. Hess Sr., rendered
several anthems at both services,
which were greatly appreciated.
The collections for the day were
very satisfactory- to the managers
of the congregation, amounting to
about $175.00. The result of the
Jubilee must bo very gratifying to
the pastor, Rev, E. Schuelke, as
well as to the whole congregation.
A number of donations from form-
er members, now resident in differ-
ent parts of Canada and the United
•Mates were received by Treasurer
Hsss, and a number of the letters
were read by hint at the evening
meeting.
Public School Concert.
Not having had a Pic-nic this
summer as usual, the Principal of
the Public School no doubt thought
it would hardly be just the thing
to let the year pass without an en-
tertainment of some kind, and as a
result, he is now busily training
the scholars (after hours) in pre-
paration for a grand concert, to be
held in the Town Hall, here, on the
evening of the 22nd. instant. In
this effort he is being ably seconded
by his lady assistants, and already
good progress has been matte in the
platter of rehearsals, The enter-
tainment, we understand, will in-
clude Drills, Recitations, Dialogues,
Tableaux, Songs, etc., and will be
largely confined to the pupils, who
are showing much interest in the
undertaking. The Concert promis-
es to be a good one, and the price
of the admission tickets are being
put exceedingly low—only 10 and
15 cents ---so as to enable every one
to be present. It is, therefore, to
be hoped that parents and the citi-
zens generally will feel it a duty to
attend and see what the children
