in Zurich.
Master Gordon Reediting of Till-
sonburg is spending the week with
relatives, in town.
Mr. E. Bossenberry left for Port
Huron on Tuesday, to witness the
Races, which aro being. held there

Mrs. Aclam Faust, who was visit-
ing rehttiN es and friends in Michi-
gan for about a month, has rebleed
to her home again.
Mrs. Fred. Howalcl and child, of
Hensall. are visiting at her father's;
Mr. P. Bender's, this week. Mr. H.
was also there over Sunday.
Mr. H. J. D. (look, of Henson,the
affable and popular scion of Black -
stems, was in Znrich, professonally,
for some hours last week.

hill.

Foot -ball match between Crediton
and Zurich, did not take place on
Frictoy evening, as announced in
last issue.
Mr, P. Sipple and. his daughter.
Ida, who were in Hamilton, at the
Old BoysCelebration and Summer
Carnival, have returned to their
home again.
Mr. A. Weseloh, Clothier, &c., of
Berlin, was in town this week, on
a short visit to his brothers'. John
and. Henry, and to renew old ac-
quaintances.
The number of cases to be heard
in Court this time, is, we under-
stand, small—not more than three
or fonr—and the sitting is expected
to be (ii' short duration.
Court will he held in the Town
Hall, Zur)ch, on Wednesday next,
the 2ral of September, commencing
at 10 O'eb)c.k., a. in. It i; about four
months since the last sitting took
place here.
Dr. 'Wallace, of Orangeville, who
had charge of Dr. Buchanan's prac-
tice during his absence, left for
home on Saturday morning. He is,
said to have given entire satisfac-
tion to all concerned
Mr. P. Lamont was in Toronto
again this week, with three carloads
of cattle. This makes seven car-
loads he has sent forward to the
Queen City withtn tlie last cou-
ple of weeks or so.

tered upon the 17th year of publica-
tion and has celebrated tho event

Mr. John Dumart left for Strat-
ford and Berlin, on Wednesday af-
ternoon, to visit friends and consult
an eye specialist. He has been

Mr. Charlie Scheemacher bas, we•
understand, bought out a hotel at
Parkhill, and will leav here to take

September. The property is said to

The County Convention of the
W. 0. T. U. was held in the Evan-
g.elichal Church, hero, on Tuesday
and. Wednesday, as per announce-
ment, and was a sticeess in every-
thiug but numbers, the attendance
of delegates beidg only about half
of what was expected. Thi, how-
ever, was le rcrelv rompenqated for
by the interest and attendance of
the local public and the energy and.
activity of those who had the over-
sight of the work in hand, and we
regret that want of space 001111)01 us
to hold over at mueh more extended
report of th.e proceedings until our
next issue. The programme was
large]y gone over, and the addres-
ses given'by the several different
speakers participating. 1.tr0 Itrat to

above the average, while the other
numbers were alike creditable and
interesting. The R.ov. Mr, Hender-
son, late of Hensall, was unable to
be present, but his place was ably
fined by the Rev, Mr. Hobbs, of
Strathroy. Tho evening meetings

interesting, as evidenced by the or -
dor and decorum which prevailed
during the extra. long sessions.—
The Rev, W. J. Yager, pastor of
