A case of cruelty to animals was

an offence, for which a heavy fine

it and cause hint some trouble.
Mr. Ches. Greb has changed the

A carry -all load of young men
of the village, drove out to the
hole in -the -swamp, on Sunday af-

now, it is said, as it is in the „early

TRH BILES 011' 5COZIOMA,
So keen is the suffering of many
people who endure the stinging,
itching sensations of Eczema that
they speak of the skin as, being on
fire. By its soothing, healing,
antiseptic influence Dr. Chase's
Ointment positively Cures eczema,
Salt Rheum, and every form of
itehing skin disease. It is of in-
estimable value in every home, and
when once introduced becomes a
household necessity, Dr. Ohase'e
Ointment is the standard the world
over, and has no worthy rival,
The evening service in the C'•hureh
of -the Evangelical Association, will
be held at 7.30 during the balance of
the summer months. This change
is in the interest of the outlying
district, who found 7 too early.
In addition to the Stallions men-
tioned in a former issue, as travell-
ing in this vicinity, should be add-
ed that of the shire horse " Young
willow," It is said to be a good
one and is owned. by Mr. Leo. Fos-
ter of Slabtown.
Mr. Leo. Loster, of Slabtown,
has, we regret to say, suffered
considerable loss in the death of his
Clydesdale Stallion "Indian Chief,"
which he had just commenced to
move for the season. The animal
succumbed to inflammation on
Tuesday morning. It is said to
have had a good record among the
farmers of the locality, and won
many prizes throughout a wide ex-
panse of territory.
Mr. C. Greb, hardware merchant,
has secured the contract to put
metal roofs on three buildings, at
Dashwood., and has already entered
upon the fulfilment of it, Mr. Thos.
Kelly, his foreman, being now
there prosecuting the work. Mr.
Jacob Weaver is the party contract-
ed with, and the buildings to be
covered are his resic.enae, barn and
drive -shed. Mr. Greb seems to be
rushing the metal roofing business
this spring.
Look out for then. A new bunco
scheme is said to be practiced by
men wearing a government badge.
They are said to operate in stores,
hotels -and other business places,
where there is likely to be money
on hand. .they represent them,
selves as Government employees,
connected with the secret service
branch, and are usually in search of
counterfeiters, who are supposed
to be making the spurious article,
in or near the vicinity. They ask
to look over your cash drawer and
this privilege is usually accorded
them, when they generally succeed
in finding several pieces which, are
pronounced bogus These they Con-
fiscate in the pante of the govern-
ment, and depart to snake other ex-
aminations and find other easy ones.
If any of these well-dressed, slick -
tongued gentry enter your store
and talk counterfeit money to you
don't be green enough, to let theist
handle your money. This advice is
not meant for Zurich., brit outside
isolated places, where women and
boys are often left in charge.
