EREIN BANK of Canada Miss Rosie Eilber visited at Dashwood a few days last week. Mr. Litt, of Sebringville, is visit- ing his brother-in-law, Rev. W. J. Yaeger., Rose of Erin". and "Empire" seed potatoes, for sale at Schrag's Seed Store, Mr. John roster is erecting a fine brick stable at his residence opposite the Fair Grounds. Mr. Ireland,. of Clinton, agent for ,the Canada Life Assurance Co., was in town on Wednesday, on a busi- ness trip. Mr. S. T, Hopper, optician, of Hensall, will be at the Dominion House, Zurich, next Wednesday, 15th inst. Eyes tested free. Mr. Daniel Gingerich of the Bronson line recently purchased a handsome two-year-old colt from his neighbor, Mr. Godfrey Nichol - s011. Mr Hartleib is erecting a veran- dah in front of his store, presum- ably to save his stock from damage by the sun's rays. Dr. Campbell intends leaving for the Old Country in a few weeks, to take a post -graduate Bourse in the leading hospitals. He will be absent several months. Our merchants are shipping a lot of dutch setts, at present. The price is very low, and a good many of the setts are rotting as a result of the warns weather in 1Vlatreh. We regret to learn that Mr. John Deichert is laid up again, suffering from the old trouble. Another slight operation, to remove the ac- cumulation of pus, -was necessary., Mr. Henry Bossenberry, who has been in the Queen's hotel, St. Joseph, for the past few months, intends to return to Grand Bend this week, to manage his simmer hotel, there. Miss Clara Klopp has been en- gaged as teacher in 'our public school, Miss Andrews having re- signed. Miss Andrews was very popular with the school children, who all regret her departure. Mrs. S. Hardy and daughter, Jennie, arrived here this week. from Michigan. Mr. Hardy and fancily will take up temporary resi- dence hi D. Steinbach's building until another dwelling can be pro- cured. The youngsters seem to be enjoying their quarters and are attracting a good. steal of attention from the passers-by. Mr. John Knorr had his right arta badly sprained, in a friendly scuffle, in the barn of the Dominion House, on • Tuesday evening. He now carries that member in a sling, and will likely be laid up for a cou- ple.of weeks, at least. Mr. C. Eilber this week purchas- ed a two-year-old trotting colt from E. Bossenberry, for $120. The colt is sired by- "General Roberts" now owned by Kidd Bros., of Listowel and who has stepped a mile in 2.1.2. The colt is a very • promising one and looks•a born race -horse, Mr. Chris. Schrag has purchased the flour and feed business, which .has been successfully carried on .by Mr. R. R. Johnston for the past year, and as Mr. bchrag is .. thorough business man ho will no doubt be able to materially increase the' business, He also handles all kinds of field seeds. A circular has been issued to School Inspectors, by the Minister of Education, calling their attention to the necessity of observing Arbor. 1 Day and Empire Day as intended, viz : the former for planting trees in and around the different school grounds, and otherwise beautifying their surrondings. T. 1J. niet to bid farewell to one of their members, Miss L. Andrews, who is leaving for the North West. Miss Andrews has beim an active worker in the Union, and while sorry to part with her, they all wish her God -speed in her work.— She was presented with en address and aW. C. T.
