AYER CO., Lowell, lisle. The Reseed, E. ZELLER EDITOR, Zuitiog, P.O, FRIDAY, The report of the Anthracite Strike Commision has been made pubhc and the result has been a gain to the striking miners, in an increase of wages of from 10 to 20 per cent, and a reduction of hours. The coal barons do not show any anxiety however, as the screws will likely be put to the price of coal which will tend to keep their millions intact and keep them in a state of healthy development and growth. The great consuming masses will be the sufferers, and there is every possibility of a high- er price for hard coal during the life of the award, which extends to March 31st, 1906. The net result of the Commission's report can therefore be summed up as fol- lows :--Better wages for the mine worker;, higher prices for the con- sumer: of herd. coal and a steady a growth of the millionaire eoal t, barons' millions. Liberal Imperialists object to a renewal of the Irish alliance, and Mr. R. W. Perks advises his Nonconformist friends in Chertsey not to vote for Mr. Longman, the Liberal candidate, who is an avow- ed follower of Sir Henry Campbell - Bannerman, unless he pledges him- self to a complete zevision of the education act by repeal or amend- ment. The recent bye -elections have been won by the Liberals, to a large extent, on the education question, and the Nonconformists have not forgotten that the Irish members assisted the Government to pass the education act, which they consider unjust and discredit- able. It looks very much as if Sir Henry Henry C'•aunpbell-Bannerman in fishing for the Irish vote has helped to widen the breach in his own party. J G. STAN BU RY, B. No athlete ever trains for a contest, no matter What its nature niay be, without walking a considerable distance in theopen air each day. Many keep in vigorous health by this alone, and, no matter what other exercise you take, you n ust walk. But, first of all, learn how to walk. A great many people walk in an aim- less, shuffling manner, and secure but little benefit from the exercise. In walking for exercise, the effect is better if the mind is directed toward some pleasurable end. Walk with consciously directed movements until you have brought every muscle under perfect Control of your will.
