Baked sweet apples, with some people, bring
prompt relief for Constipation. With others,
coarse all -wheat bread will have the same effect.
Nature undoubtedly has ai vegetable remedy to
relieve every ailment known to man, if physicians
can but find Nature's way to health. And this is
strikingly true with regard to Constipation.
Tho bark of a certain true in California -Cas -
cars Sagrada-offers a most excellent aid to this
.end. But, combined with Egyptian Senna, Slip-
pery Elm Bark, Solid Extract of I'rurtes, etc., this
same Cascara bark is given its greatest possible
power to correct constipation. A toothsome
Candy Tablet, called Tatix-ets, is now made at the
Dr. Shoop Laboratories, from this ingenuous and
.most effective prescription. Its effect on Consti-
pation, Biliousness, Sour Stomach, Dad Breath,
Sallow Complexion, eto.,'is indeed prompt and
satisfying.
No griping, no unpleasant after reacts are ex-
perienced, and Lax-ets are put up in beautiful
lithographed metal boxes at 5 cents and 25 cents
per box.

A Letter from Edmonton.
Edmonton, Apr. 1st, 1907,
Dear Editor.—S ix years ago to-
day ! How many among your
younger readers remember the
'date? I at least have good cause to
remember.for it was just six years
ago this morning I first made my
way towards the Z. P S. I clearly
remember the comments made by
the different persons as I walked
down the street. One man inform-
ed me that I had bad boys to deal
with and -another said that the boys
had planned 'to wallop nae, one old
lady after passing me told her com-
panion that that was the new
"shale -mister" and a little fellow
at one corner with an attentive
group of listeners said "There goes
Stetch's boy." Looking back a-
cross the years it pleases me but at
the tithe the outlook seemed gloomy
enough and I thought I had secur-
ed the most unenviable position in
the world. And "what about the
boys, who" my informant said
-were bad?" I now number thein
among my best friends and quite a
number of them already hold posi-
tions of trust and as time goes on
nothing will give me more joy than
to hear of their continued success.
No one said anything about bad
girls so of course I was easy on
that score. Oh ! 'hut was it the
girls who tied up the school -bell on
that day? Even if it were, "what
about it?" The term "bad boys"
like the word "cant" should bo left
out of our English language, such
words do more harm than good. I
never suet the 'boy or girt but had
Many good ideas and the trne oda
Q0, -tor will bear this in mind and
instead of over -ruling these ideas,

mean it in ilia broader sense "any:
One Jou Meet" not merely the
school -teacher. The four years
and a. half l: spent in Zurich will al
Ways be numbered among the hap-
piest of my life.
"But bow about the West?" you
ask, s0 I must change my tune for
'too mach of any one thing is tire-
some. Since landing here on Mar.
26; until yesterday the weather
has been cold, Easter brought a
change and it is quite mild today
so the snow is disappearing fast,
none too fast either for the fanners
are getting anxious to commence
seeding and the contractors in the
city are simply waiting for mild
weather to begin operations on the
many largo buildings planned for
the coming season. settlers are
already pouring in and ou Saturday
a party of sixteen started for the
far-famed Peace River country,
they are but the vanguard of thou-
sands who are yet to follow from
the Northern and Central States.
This as you know is my third trip
to Edmonton and 1 may say that
prospects were never better than
at the present time. I wit: rather
amused when I picked up the Ex-
positor issue of Mar, 22 and read
therein the advice given me by the
Worthy Zurich correspondent re-
garding Ileal E3tate values in the
West. He evidently thinks with
thousands of others thst Neal
Estate is a gaunble. I know that
many look on it and deal in it as
either
snch but those who do are c i th e
gamblers or deal in it from a wrong
stand -point. Any person, who will
give double what he knows a pro•
party to be worth in hopes that he
inay drop it on another fellow for
triple its value thereby Causing tlit
other fellow to lose, is dishonest in
the extreme. And it is just such
Mien who are a curse not only to
the Real Estate business itself but
to any business and to the country
ars well, for such men will mis-
represent things and say almost
anything in order to attain their
Own selfish gains. But there are
quite it number who deal in Real
Estate from an entirely different
;standpoint, they buy as property at
what they believe it to be' worth
because they think it will be in a
few years actually worth double or
triple the price they paid. Men of
this stamp have faith in a country
and under sttoh ciroucnstances
where does the gamble conte in?
1 for one have faith in the West
and in the growing towns and
oities of the Western plains but
even if I have, don't suppose for a
minute that I have forgotten old
Ontario, in many reslieets still the
banner province.. But the West
holds out greater opportunities to
the young man of atnbition, opper-
tunities such as • Ontario offered,
years ago to our grandfathers.
There are numbers of people in the
West as well as in the East who
are prone to confine our dominion
in a little seven by nine territory,
suoh have yet to learn the meaning
of the word Canadian. Canada is
something more than Ontario or
Alberta it is bounded by three-
mighty
hreemighty oceans on the North, East,
and West and by a great Republic,
to the South. Our citizenship ex-
tends beyond a mere city, country
or province and embraces a nation
of which we should be proud and
pleased to call ourselves a part.
Yesterday l met my friend Mr.
Alex Ehnes, he expresses himself
as well satisfied with the outlook
but we agree that Ontario was the
spot to spend the winter of 1906-07
not only on account of the weather
but on aacernint of the hospitality of
old Huron friends. • A letter or card
to Box 1244, Edmonton, Alta, will
be duly appreciated by me. Trust-
ing you may find space to publish
this in your valuable paper and
thanking ypu in advance.
I remain, R. F. Stelck.
