A good story is going the rounds
of the village at present. A num-
ber of hunters went out hunting
rabbits a few days ago and one of
them happened to shoot a rabbit
shortly after they got into the
swamp. He felt so elated at this
that he soon left for home. Bot
he had the laugh on the other fel-
lows after all, as they. tramped the
swamp all afternoon and never a
rabbit did they shoot.
A
happy event was celebrated at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. David

near Baden, Ont. The ceremony
was performed in the presence of
the relatives and friends. 'The
presents to the bride and groonn
were costly as well as useful. W+

BIBLE SOCIETY.
Last Sunday's services in the
Evangelical church were in the
interest of the Bible Society.
The pastor spoke of the work of
the Upper Canada Bible Society
and the necessity of devoted effort,
because of the increasing immigra-
tion in the northwest. This branch.,
judging by the contributions, is in
a flourishing condition, as this
year's contributions shows a mark-
ed increase of the previous year.
The following officers were elected:
President, Rev. A. D. Giseliler ;
Secretary, Herman Well ; Treasurer
Peter Bender ; Depositary, D. S.
Faust. The Depositary remains at
D. S. Fanst's stere. Mr. Faust, who
is thoroughly interested in this
noble cause, should be largely
patronized as there is no other
stock of Bibles in this section.
DECEMBER WEATHER.
A regular storm period covers
the 12th to the 16th, having its
center on the 13th. In all reason
this prove one of the most active
storm periods for December. By
the 13th a general oh.ange to warm-
er, with low and threatening baro-
meter, will be moving eastward in
western sections. The temperature
will increase and the barometer
continue to fall as these conditions
progress eastward. Cloudiness will
increase and by the 14th to 15th
general rain and wind storms will
develop over all central to south-
ern sections. On the north and
west extremes of these storm
centers, blizzardotis storms of sleet
and snow. with high gales, will set
in by the 15th.. Be prepared for
severe winter storm and weather,
and for a fierce cold wave through-
out the country generally during
and immediately following this
period. The cold will spread far
into the south from about the 16th
to the kith.
