WHAT MILLIE SAID.
"Well," said the unnatural par-
ent, "if you don't shell out the
money I'.11.- pitch you out of the
.house."
"You dare not!" shrieked the
girl, arising. "And now -I. propi>se

everything in it was left to the
ohildren of my mother. That ie
what Mr. Hall, the executor, told
me a few days ago. My little

The door burst open and two
men walked in -one was the principal
of the school and the other pastor
of the village church.
"Let me finish your sentence,

father and yourself, and Mr. Beec-

me on his way home. We entered
to take' part' in this 'affair. ' Now

your weakness. and we pity you.

rum again as long as you live, and
that: von will go to work and assist
this child in making this hone an
attractive one and enable her to at-
tend school more promptly."
"Look a -here," spoke up Jonas,

very powerful man. "If yon don't

ings frnn, the pen of the Rev. 0. C.
Sink.
Life must he measured by actions,
not by time, for a man may die old
at ninety, rind young at sixty. A
moments work en clay tells more
than an honr's•work on brick. The
world is opt to coo in your ear if
you are rich, but if you are poor it
will kick like a mule. leo matter
how purely you live to -day, there
is no denying the fact, that you
may live purer to -morrow. Have
the courage to cut the tnost agree-
able acquaintance you have when
you are convinced he tacks princi-
ple. a friend inay bear arioth.ers in-
firmities, lett not his vices. Pre-
serve your conscience always, for
if you open the door for one sin,
you open the way for other sins to
follow.
Do not think one lie is harmless,
another to be slight, the third nn -
intended, and another to be white,
cast theft) all aside for they are all
like soot and ascend from an ugly
put for all that, and it is better to
keep clear of them, for there is no
sucts, a thing known as a white lie
they are all blank weep with those
who weep, and extend the hand of
charity to the deserving. It is
better to belong to the followers of
Christ than to horde up riches.
See that each clay is improved to
advantage, ouiti.vate good habits.
Despise profanity. Have a constant
regard for the sabbath. Have re-
verence for the house of God. No
man leaving a Mire heart , will say,
there is no God.
