Miss Enitna Drysdale, acoompan-

called at the home of Mr. Allan on
Sunday last,
Mr. Chris. Bechler has returned
home after spending some months
on the dredge near Exeter.
The fanners in this vicinity have
finished up their fall plowing and
are now preparing for winter.
Soon the Christmas holidays will
be with us. The little folks are
already anxiously awaiting the
joyous event.

COUNTY NEWS.
Smith Bros., general merchants,
Exeter, have assigned to the Lon-
don and Westerns Trusts Co., Litnit-
ed, London,
Fire on Sunday evening destroy-
ed two barite owned and occupied
by J W. Irwin, Clinton. The loss
will be a heavy one. '
Thomas Wheeler, who for some
titre has conducted the blacksmith
shop .in Wiuohelsea, Usborne, has
decided to close up Ms business
and has moved to Seaforth.
The death took place in the Hou-
se of Refuge last week of a former
well-known resident of Seaforth,
in the person of James McConnigle
at the age of 65 years. He had been
an inmate of the House since 1902.
Wm. Russell. of Hay township,
has purchased Geo. E,aUase's 100 -
acre farm situated on the London
Road in the sante township. The
price staid was $5,700 ; this is con-
sidered one of the best farms in the
township. Mr. Case will continue
to reside in Toronto.
Mrs. Mary Finkbeiner has re-
turned from Napinka. Man., where
she was visiting relatives.
Rev. E. H. Bean attended the.
funeral of his brother-in-law at
Buffalo last week.
Eli Lawson is now in the. general
produce business.
Mrs. C. Dryer is recovering from
her illness.
Mrs. Geo. Lawson reoently under-
went a successful operation at St.
Joseph hospital.
Wm. Lewis has received word
from bis son, William. at South
River, who has been seriously ill,
that he is slowly recovering.
Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Truemner
of Petrolia are visiting relatives
here.
A pretty wedding was solemnized
at. Peter's chnrch. near
Centralia. on Vit' ednesday, Nov. 21,
when Miss Anselti, darirhter of Mr.
and Mrs. Daniel Coughlin vas
united in marriage to Dr. P. 7.

friends. They left on the evening

Walter,. eldest son of Mr. Frank
O'Brien, of near Chiselhurrt, had a
close shave' frons losing his life on
Sunday evening last. While chas-
ing the horse into the stable, one
kicked, striking him in the
face.' His nose w.ts broken so that
two piecee had to be taken out. He
also received a bruise over the loft
eye.
The town clerk of Exeter has
been notified by the Inspector of
Asylums -that a man named Mc-
Williams, who was sent to theLon-
don asylum from Exeter in 1876,
and who is still in that institution,
that the corporation will be held
responsible for kis keep there since
January last, at the rate of $36.50
per year. Tifis is in complaince with
the amended set, passed last ses-
sion of the Legislature.
