The Hustlers For
Trade and Princi=
pal Business Men.
A brief Sketch of the Town
In this week's issue of THE
HERALD we present our readers
with a business men's edition of
the paper containing a fairly accur-
ate summary of the diversified
business interests of the plane.
It will be seen at a glance that
the business men here are alive and
progressive and that anything
tending to promote the town's in-
terests merits their co-operation
and support.
Zurich is one of the busiest marts
of commerce in this county. The
annual Fall Fair is very largely
attended and is a top-notcher (as
country fairs go,) and it has done
considerable in advertising the
stock and products of the thriving
farmers in the Townships of Hay,
Stanley and Stephen. There is a
public school, and three churches,
Evangelical, Roman Catholic and
Lutheran, -with earnest and zealous
pastors administering to the spirit-
ual wants of their various congre-
ga tions.
There is a good brass band here
and the young people take a very
active interest in sports, shooting,
etc. Zurich is also the headquar-
ters for the Hay Township Farm-
ers' Fire Insurance Company of
which Mr. H. Eilber, M. P. P., is
Secretary -Treasurer ; and also the
Huron Weather Insurance Com-
pany, of which Mr. E. Zeller is Sec-
retary. And with proper railway
facilities there is no doubt but that
Surich would row very materially.
It is a matter of surprise to many
outsiders who visit the village to
find what a busy place it is. Its
churches, school, splendid hotels
and integrity of the business men,
their sound financial standing and
enviable record for fairness, go
to make Zurich one of the best
bnsinese een f res in this part of the
con n try.
Just four miles west on the lake
shore is the' 'City" of St. Joseph,
which place was founded. by Mr,
N. M. Contine,
Itis with best wishes for the fu-
ture growth and success of the
town that THE HERALD presents to
its readers this Trade Edition.
D{any orchards throughout this
rection have been practically ruined
by the recent snow storm. The
trees had not lost their foliage and
the snow which adhered to the
leaves and branches when it fell.
broke off the branches by the
weight of it. Some orchards present
the appearance of a, slashing, some
trees being broken in two. Old
residents say that about thirty-
seven years ago winter set in in.
October and the sleighing lasted
until after New Years.
DASHWOOD
Geo. Edighoffer, the popular shoe
merchant of this place, has a wide
reputation as a manufacturer of
first-class shoes. Last week ho re-
ceived several orders front residents
of British Colombia people whom
he had never seen. They simply
sent along the cash and wanted the
shoes like John Musser's pair.
Mr. H. Eilber of Crediton was in
the village on Friday last, collect-
ing the assessment for the Hay
Fire Ins. Co.
This week on Wednesday evening
the British and Foreign Bible Socie-
ty will hold their annual meeting
in the Evangelical church here.
The meeting will be addressed ry
Rev. Mr.. Owen of Hayesville. He
has been here before and no doubt
will give agood address.
Little Nettie Brokenshire, who
has been visiting her cousins on the
Goshen line during the past week,
has returned to her home here.
The Misses Emma Callfas and
Catherine Finkbeiner spent Sunday
with friends in Exeter,
It is reported that in a couple of
weeks we will lose some of our
citizens by their removing to other
towns to work.
Nick Stele left Monday evening
for Zurich where he will join a
company of Hien and take train for
the lumber camps ix. Nippising Dis-
trict.
Mrs. Deering of Winnipeg visited
lit the house of Mrs. C. Miller on
Sunday last.

THE STOVE QUESTION
is easily decided if you
buy aPANDORA Range..
Every dealer claims to
have the best stove even
if they just launch out,
But if an explanation is
required that is where the
PANDORA shines, and
the other fellows are out
:„. of the game.
HE PANDORA is the range where the fire
circulates twice around the oven before it
strikes the pipe, and it is the only one on
the market to do this. This range has been on
the market only four years and during that tiom
160,000 have been sold. No other stove has won
such a reputation.
The PANDORA is made by a firm with 50 Tears experience and
is today the largest firm under the British flag. You can al-
ways get repairs not like some stove firms in business today a.ncl
gone to -morrow. We have a full line of heating stoves and
prices as usual, always the cheapest.
Also largest stock of HARNESS, ROBES and BLANKETS. Call and see.
