C. P. E.. EXTENSION.
Writing from St. Mary's, the
correspondent of the London Free
Press, says.,
"The line will 'be continued from
St Mary's t.o C oderich, through
the townships of Fullerton, 7•Iay
and Stanley, opening up a rich
farthing section which has never
had railroad .facilities, It will be.
year's, however, before this line
will be finished., and the object at
present is to have the Iine from
Woodstock to 5t Mary's completed
within the next year. The bonnses
to he offered the 0. P. R. altogether
will be about $90,000 for this e.
tons ion. "
THE :HERALD ha,, in the past agi-
tated this route as the best one for
this territory and we would urge
the villages interested, viz :-Eete-
ter, Zurich and Rat h ield, to get a
move on. The C. P. R. is anxious
for a Southerly extension and there
seems no reason • why many :rears
should pass before this line is built.
The total distance from Woodstock
to Gederich is only about sixty
.riles and a better a,orintry it would
he hard to find, There are three or
fou:' whole tuwrtahips that have
veers indifferent transportation
facilities not to peak of the handi-
INSURANCE. cap imam. which Sulu placed as
E.leet r e-nd St. ;alar r' are placed
be haring, no i::ailwaLy competition.

i'ara.l:i'sI and Strathroy will be

hilly 1:tile to:'rn would be the nate-
rai jar 'tion point for the two lines-
etould the C. P. a, operate both
be.anches, whioh would seem to be
taken fn•_ granted. But "push" is
needed ded on the ,tart of the towns
and townships interested. Goderich
is very anxious to goat a Southern
outlet and her citizens are by no
neane aleeep in railway matters.
