Mr. Abe Bender of London visit-
ed at his home here over Sunday.
Geo. Trott has moved his photo-
graph studio to grand. Bend this
week.
Mr. Ed. Deichert, of Armada.,
Mich., spent the past week visiting
his home here.
D. S. Faust has some fine linen
hats for summer, They are just
what yon want.
Mr. and Mrs. John Prang, and
son, of Goderich, .visited relatives

Mr. C. Fritz and wife and Wes.
Kibler are attending the races at
Listowel this week.
Miss Ella Weseloh of Waterloo
spent a few days here the past
week visiting friends,
Mrs. Oliver Johnston and two
children, of Clinton, visited at the
home of Mrs. Thos. Johnson, this
week.
•Miss Ethel Williams is visiting
at the home of her sister Mrs.
<Rev.) Whitesides, Ottawa, at
present.
Miss Sibert of Plattsville, Miss
Rieder of Shakespeare and Miss
Moyer of Berlin are the guests of
Mrs. J. Preeter this week.
Mrs. McLean, of Eensall, and
daughter, Miss Mabel McLean, of
Winnipeg. are the 'guests of Mrs.
L. Charlesworth this week.
Mr, F. W. Hess has purchased a
10 foot motor boat from a Detroit
firm and it was shipped a few days
ago. It is said to be a dandy and
Mr. Hess is anxiously awaiting its
arrival.

The trustees of the ivangelical
church of this village have decided
to have a metallic ceiling put into
the church, and also replace the
present windows with stained glass
ones. A cement wank and steps
built in front of the church greatly.

Mr. Albert Gies attended the
deaf and dumb eonvention at Belle-
ville last 'Week. There were 175
former pupils of the institute pres-
ent. On his return he spent a few
days at Berlin and St. Jacobs, with
relatives and reports a pleasant
time. Mr. Leo Laporte of the Sauble
Line was also there, These two
young men attended the school at
the same time, and no doubt the
trip proved interesting to both.

WEDDED AT LONDON.
A very quiet wedding was cele-
brated at London, Saturday, June
23rd, when Miss Marie Basscw, se•
cond daughter of Mr. W. Bassow,
of Zurich, was married to Mr.
Lorne Russel Dimbleby. The cere-
mony was performed by Rev. 1'.

GUN CLUB SHOOT.
The weekly shoot of the Gun
Club was held last Thursday even-
ing. O'Brien captured the medal

ed relatives and friends here over

Chas. Greb has improved the ap-
pearance of his residence by a coat
of fresh paint.
Mrs. Geo. Wyatt of London is
visiting at the home of Mrs. S.
Rannie this week.
Mrs.:Preston, of Cleveland, Ohio,
is the guest of her sister. Mrs. J.
J. Merrier, at present.
Miss Addie Witwer of London
spent a few days at her home here
during the past week.
Mr. and Mrs. A. Hill and daugh-
ter, of Crediton, visited relatives
in the village on Sunday.
Mrs. Thompson, who has been
visiting at Mr. R. C. Doan's, re-
turned to her home at Sheddon on
Mond ay.
Mr. and Mrs. David McLinchy
and family of Stanley visited at D.
Schueil's, Goshen Line South, on
Tuesday.
Miss Bennett, who had charge of
D. S. Faust's millinery department
the past season, has returned' to
her home in Blyth.
RE-ENGArnD.—A petition of the
supporters of S. S. No. 3, Hay,
which was signed by between 40
and 50, most of whom are sending
children to school, was presented
to the trustees recently and as a
result Mr. J. W. Hogarth has been
re-engaged.
James Hartney. Manitoba Immi-
gration agent in Toronto, who has
just returned from a trip to the
West, reports that the• prospects
for a bumper harvest were never
better. "There is enough moisture
in the ground to put the grain
through to maturity," he said.
Mr. Hartney. estimates the Mani-
toba wheat crop will average thirty
bushels to the acre,. if .notui7rtg urt-
foreseen. happens.

Jack Mosseau of Hay towns it
few evenings ago espied a lynx
walking ieisnrely towards his barn.
His dog gave chase to the animal
but could not capture it. The next
evening it was seen near the Zurich
road, again pursued without sue
cess. It has since killed two of Mr.
Mosseau's sheep. It acted so tamely
when pursued that some of the
people there concluded that it must
have escaped from some zoo or
show.
