Mrs. Rennie and family spent the 24th at their summer home at Grand Bend. Miss Clara Buchanan of Toronto visited at her home here for a few days last week. Miss'e'rcda Hess, of the Seaaforth Collegiate Institute, spent, the holi- days at her home here. Hay council will meet next ;Mon- day as a Court of Revision and also for transacting routine business. The Y , P. A. rally in the Evange- lical church on Sunday evening was well attended. and the pro- gramme rendered was much ap- preciated by those present. Messrs. W. Hunter and O. H. Ehnes, pro -managers at the Zurich and Dashwood branches of the Sovereign Bank respectively, at- tended the convention of bank clerks at Toronto last Thursday and Friday. The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper will be dispensed in the Evangelical church next Sunday morning-.. The preparatory service will be held on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the German language. There will also be servie onSatur- Satur- day evening at 7.30.' Tie. Rev. L. E Wagner of Berlin who was elect- ed presiding elder at the Annual conference and stationed on the west district will have charge of the Saturday and Sunday services. You are cordially invited to attend. There is some talk of planting a large number of shade trees on the new Fair Ground. This is a good suggestion and shauld be acted np- on promptly. If trees would be planted around the show -house and a row around the outside of the track, in a few years we would have a pretty park there. We would suggest that each member, past and present, wonld supply. or buy, a certain number of trees and see that they are planted. This -would be an easy way of getting the trees and wonld not entail much expense. GUN CLUB SHOOT. The Zurich Gun Club met for its regular shoot last Thursday even• in. As will be seen by the score the 'best shooting since the club was organizer) was done. In break- ing the tie between Ran and Zettel, the latter won, and carries the ;medal for the second time. The home of Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Fuss, who live south of the village, was the scene of a pretty wedding on Wednesday of last week, when their eldest daughter, Miss Lovina, became the bride of Mr. Alfred Beichert, a prosperous young farm- " er of near Eillsgreen. The bride was assisted by her sister, Miss Melinda, while the groom was ably supported by his cousin, Mr. Wm. Beichert. The ceremony was per- formed at 3 o'clock in the afternoon by Rev. E. Schuelke in the presence of about sixty guests, and took place under a pretty arch. After the ceremony all sat down to a bounti- ful wedding repast to which ample justice was done, The presents to the bride and groom were numer- ous and costly. They will make their home on the groom's farm near Hillsgreen. We join in ex- tending congratulations to the happy couple, Mr. G. Schmidt, of Sebringville, visited friends bare over Sunday. Mr. Jos. Dirstine of Hensail visited friends here this week. Miss Addie Sararas is attending the wedding of her cousin in North Easthope this week. Mr. John Torrance of Clinton was in the village on Tuesday look- ing after sonic horses. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Plaetzer and Miss Pearl Plaetzer of Blyth Visited friends hero ]cast week. The regular meeting of the W. L. T. U, will be held at the home of the President Mendas afternoon at 2.30 o'clock. George Trott. photographer has returned from the West and will be in Zurich every Monday during June, beginning with Monday June 4th. Miss Lydia, Faust has been elected as delegate to represent the Evan- gelical Sunday School. CIVIC HOLIDAY AND SCHOOL PICNIC. A petition has been circulated among the business men of Zurich for theur ose of making June, p p ' 22nd a civic holidaiy., and as all have signed it that day will,be set apart as a holiday. All the stores will be closed on that day and people •will govern themselves. ac- cordingly. The Zurich Public School picnic will be held on that day, at Grand Bend, and a big effort, will be made to make it a grand success. Mr. McLeod, princi- pal of the Z. P, S., wishes us to state that a meeting for appointing committees, etc., will be held at Run's Hotel next Thursday evening A good attendance is wished for.
