The Dominion Government has an-
nounced Monday, October 80th, as
Thanksgiving Day. The change from
Thursday to Monday has given such
sattiaction that it inay now b3 con-

Over half a million asters, red,

the making of a great floral flag for
the reception of President Taft,
when he visits Pasadena on Oct-
ober 16 As now planned, the flag
is to hang over the table when the
banquet is served, and it is expect-
ed, to be one of the most beautiful
deoorations of the kind ever con-
ceived or assembled.

Great satisfaction has been ex-
pressed in France at the success of
the aeroplane in th ' recent mili-
tary manoeuvres. Gen. °hoiner,
who ,directed the whole of the ma-
noeuvres, declares that the aero •
plane is "the most marvellous en-
gine of war wo have ever had."
Gen. Bonneau said of one phase of
the manoeuvres : "I learned from
the four airmen r had at my dis-
posal the position of the enemy's
batteries in the most exact detail.
Most of them were carefully hid-
den in a valley behind a wood, and
no cavalry in the world could have
found them. The aeroplanes dis-
covered- them in a few minutes."

A. new electric motor was received
last week by the -Goderich Elevator
and Transit Co. It was purchased from
the Allis -Chalmers -Bullock Co., of
Montreal, and was shipped there by
express in a special car on the G.T.R.
It is said to be the heaviest shipment
of express that ever was brought into
Goderich. It weighed 12,000 pound.
