OUR LANADIAN MAGAZINE,• FOR WOMEN: If we dare judge from just our own opinions and those of a few friendly feminine advisers, our de• cision would be that September number of Canadian. Home Journal Toronto, our one exclusively wo- man's magazine, comes as near to being the magazine that suite most women as an magazine cf this class has yet reached. There are some fine short stories and serials to help rest for an hour—Mrs; Mao Kav'f first serial 'The House of Windows" has justified the eulo- gistic advance notices and added largely to her reputation as a writ- er, giving an excelleet choice of fall and winter clothing for women girls and children, suitable for all occasions. There are embroidery and gift suggestions, recipes and menus are most toothsome, and the household and toilet "helps" are really helpful. The "Holiday Story Competition" for the young stems has producep some excellent work. The words and music of a love song will be appreciated by the majority of the readers. There's a word of advice from one "Girl on a Farm" to all others, with a. balm for the loneliness of the conntry,—and other speoial features. Not the least part of the Jour nays desirableness is it's attractive appearance-001or cover, fine paper and printing, and many illustra- tions. If you are in the market for such a magazine, take our advice and write the publisere for a sample copy. After spending a week or more at Elkton, we• set out for Pandora. Ohio, where the Missionary church association held their annual con vection Aug. 12 to 30. Pandora is a beautiful village in a prosperous farming section in Putnam County about 70 miles southwest of Toledo, On the Ohio northern Railway. The Convention meetings were held in the school grove under two mommoth tents joined so as to form one large anditorinm with a • seating capacity for over a thous. and. At the evening meetings it was a common sight to see about 1500 gathered and mostly young people, The singing was excellent, a large choir of about 100 mostly trained; singers directed by Prof. EzraRupk led the singing' and among others two young men from Detroit gave valuable assistance in special songs. The meetings were missionary and Evangelistic. Among the speakers were Rev. A Z. Funk of New York, Rev, C. W. Oyer of Chicago, Rev. J. D, & Mrs. Williams of Indianapolis, Rev, J. E. Ramseyer President of the M. C. Assn, The Missionaries were, Revds • David. Rupp and Funk, Africa, while Mrs. E. and myself represented India The meetings closed on Sunday with the annual convention offering, amounting to $2800.00 for missions. On Monday night Aug 211 by special request we. gave a stereopticon lecture- .on India. Some 1500 mostly young, people gathered for this additional after convention int eting, and another noble missionary offering was lifted. At the close of this Service on Aug. 22nd we left Pandora to attend a large • mission- ary convention at Beulah Park, Cleveland. It is one of the great annual gatherings of the Inter- denominational Missionary Board under which we laboured during our seven years in India. We had but two days at this delightful spot and gave three missionary addresses, That convention wily close next Sanday and I may re- port later more fully.
