An almost life-long resident of
the county of Huron, in the person
of. Joseoh Leeoh, of Bluevale, was
found dead in his bed at the home
of George Leech, Gorrie, at an
early hour on .Thursday of last
week, death being due to heart
failure. Mr, Leech was one of the
ten Leech brothers who founded
this place,. and for some years the
village was known as Leechville,
but later the name was changed to
that of Gorrie. The deceased, who
was unmarried, was in his eighty-
first year, and was a prominent
Methodist and a staunch Conserva-
tive. He is survived. by five broth -
ere. two of whom, Rev. Geo. Leech
and Rev. W. W. Leech, both su-
perannuated, reside in Toronto,
The funeral will be held. on Satur-
day at 2 p, m. Interment will take
place in the Gorrie cemetery.

On Friday, August 18th; Jane Bro-
phy, .relict of the late Richard Atkin-
son„,,died.' at her home in town at the

deceased was 'born' in the corm by, of
Galway, Ireland, and. came to this
country with her parents in 1836, set-
tling in Montreal. Eleven years af-
terwards they moved to McGillivray
where Mr. and Mrs. Atkinson were
married. Twenty-three years ago
they moved to Exeter, and about a
month after conning here Mr. Atkin-
son died. The deceased was an in-
dustrious woman and labored hard for
the benefit of her fancily. She was a
consistent member of the English
church and was highly respected, by
all who knew her. She is survived
by three brothers and three sisters,
also four sons and three daughters,
