Now that the' annual special

the said Government should ask
thein to 'take a rest.' The ever.

the whim and fancy of somebody
desiring larger profits should be
closed off as the increase comes out
of people less able to pay than
monopolistic manufacturers are

REASONS FOR BUYING A
DE LAVAL
De Laval separators save enough
over any gravity creaming of milk
in butter -fat, quality of cream,
sweet rkitnrnilk, labor, time and
trouble to pay for themselves every
six months.
De Laval separators save enough
over other separator in closer sepa-
ration, running heavier and smoo-
ther ceeam, skimming cool milk,
greator capacity, easier cleaning:
easier running and less repairs to
pay for themselves every year,
Improved De Laval separators
save enough over De Laval machin.
es of five or twenty-five years ago
in more absolutely thorough separa•
tion under all conditions; greater
capacity, easier ruinning, and
greator simplicity to pay for them-
selves every two years,
,1)e Laval separators are net only,
superior to others but' at same time
cheapest in proportion to actual
capacity, and they last from five to
ten times longer.
These are the reasons why the
vorici's experienced separator users
including 98 per cent of all creun-
orymen, use and endorse the 1)e
Laval separators.

TIME TO CUT FODDER CORN,
Prof. J. H. Sbepperd, Dean of
Agriealtara1 College, writing in
Hoard's Dairyman, . says:
amount of dry matter in a. corn
field inereasos at slmost ai. regular
rate from the tini e , of taeseling
until fully rice. In 'mend numbers
it is as follows: when' in silk it has
twioe as mush dry rnatter.as when
in tassel, when in milk three
times, when glazed four times, and
when ripe five times. as much as
when in tassel. The 'digestible
matter also increase as the corn
matures so that the increase in dry
natter is even less than the in-
oreaase in digestible matter per acre.
With these facts in mind one oan.
not be left in doubt as to the im•
portance of allowing coria to come
as near ripe as poesibie helore it is
out for fodder. It should not be
left after it is ripe for the leaves to.
bo broken off by the wind and the•
digestible matter bleached out by
rain. and dews. The cotnmon rnis
take, however, is for the grower to
out it too early.

THE CHANGE WILL COME
From Prussia comes the report
that sentiment in favor of crema-
tion is making headway in that
Country.
With the s.pread of knowledge
regarding sanitary matters;, and
the steady crcwding of population
on areas already congested,
sentiment is bound to grow in force
everywhere. The City of New
York requires twenty acres for the
burial of those who die there every
year ; and the bnrial of these dead
constitatesan ever growing menace
to the living.
'We have already reached the
stage where, in properly regulated
communities, the bedding used by
those dying of contagious disease
is burned ; we insist on the applica-
tion of a proper system of disin-
fection to houses from which via
