"As far back as
I can remember, at
least 50 years ago,
there was never a
time that our house
was without 'Nervi-
line.' In the sum-
mer time, when the
children ate green
Itppies and got sick with diarrhoea and
^ramps, it was Nerviline that cured
• theism. My father used Nerviline fre-
quently to cure gas on his stomach and
acute indigestion. There are but few
minor ailments that Nerviline does not
dugs, and I know of no medicine 'so
useful; in fact, so indispensible around
the home as Nerviline.'
This letter, written by Mrs. N. C.
Butcher, a well known resident in Bat-
tersea, shows the high opinion enter-
tained of Nerviline by those who have
used it constantly for nearly half a
century.
You'll never regret using Nerviline.
Get it to -day, keep it on hand for an

ed you instead of Nerviline. 25e per

Balzac and the Burglar.
A. new story of Balzac is related by a
contemporary. A burglar gained admis-
sion to the famous Frenchman's house
and was soon at- work, by the dight of
the moon, 'at the Iock of the secretaire
in the novelist's chamber. Balzac was as-
leep at the time, but the movements of
the intruder aroused him. The burglar,
who was working most industrious;y,
paused. A strident laugh arrested his op-
erations, and he beheld by the moonlight
the novelist sitting' up in bed, his sides
shaking 'with laughter. "What is A that
makes •you merry?" demanded the i,ur-
glar. "I laugh," replied the authors, "to
think that you should come in the might
without a lantern to search my ae.c,rt:-
taire for money, when I can never find
any there in. broad day light ]"

A DRAM OAT,
Repeated Appearances Premonitory
of Disease,
"Some years ago early in the sum-
mer," says II. Addington Bruce in Sue,
cess itlagazine, "1 dreamed that while
out; taking a walk I was suddenly at-
tacked by a huge cat, which clawed for-
ociously at my throat. That was all
there was to the dream, or at any rate
that was all I remembered ou awaken-
ing in the waning, and naturally en-
ough I dismissed it from my mind as
nothing but a dream,
"But when I found myself dreaming
the same dream again and again I be-
gan to wonder what signifieauee it
would possibly have,. Usually it varied
greatly in minor detail, Always, how-
ever, the climax was the same—the cat
had me by the throat and was biting
and scratching viciously. Altogether I
dreamed this dream not less than a score
of times in six ,months.
"Shortly before Christmas I took a
oold which settled in my throat, affect-
ing it so badly as to require the atten-
tion of a specialist. Much to my aston-
ishment it was then discovered that a
growth had been developing for some
time and that an immediate operation
was necessary.
Several weeks later, the operation
having been performed successfully, it
suddenly occurred to me that I was no
longer being troubled by the phantom
cat. For the first time the meaning of
the singular dream dawned upon me.
"It had been a genuine premonitory
dream. Consciously I had been in utter
ignorance of the dangerous growth
my throat. It had not progressed far
enough to give me any pain or even to
cause discomfort. At the same time
the organic changes it involved had pro-
duced sensations plainly felt by wi'at
psychologists call the subconscious and
manifesting through the subconsmous
to the conscious in the form of a sym-
bolic dream."

An Air Steam Engine.
An air steam engine has been invented
by a professor of engineering in one of
the Western colleges of Amercia. In thio
invention, a cylinder is filled svitit• com-
pressed atmospehrie air into which sat-
urated steam is introduced. The chief
.merit claimed for this system is that
cylinder condensation is almost totally
avoided by the high temperature of air
compression and the high superheat of
the mixture.

improvements From Osaka Ruins.
The Osaka fire, which destroyed
11,365 buildings, soused 12 deaths and
a loss of $2,500,000 is described in
"Popular Mechanics." Like most
fires, its origin was trivial. However,
it is said that the fire makes many
opportunities for improvement in
Osaka. A main avenue, 72 to 90 feet
wide, is being constructed from the
Fushionmaehi street railway station
to the section where the fire origin-
ated, a distance of two miles, and
from this will run several new streets,
36 to 48 feet wide. It is also pro-
posed to fill up the street known as
Shipimigswa with debris such as
burnt tile, earth, etc., , thus convert-
ing much new land. Public parks are
.to be laid out in sections of the de-
vastated' district former,?, densely pop-
ulated.
