•ONE VOTE M' AY DECIDE AN
• ELECTION
The failure It one man to poll
his votemigli;t result in the defeat
of a Local Optitin bylaw.
This risk becomes the greater un-
der the three fifths voting provis-
ion If the barroom supporters
poll 500 votes, the friends of tem
perance and progress and home
must poll 750 viites to win. If one
man failed. to do his duty and the
vote fell' to 749, the Local Option
by-law would be defeated.
Are you willing to incur the re-
sponsibility of making such a dis-
aster possible? For the laok of
your vote the licensed bars may
run for three years more in your
municipality', and someone near
and dear to your heart may be
making a start in the road that
leads to. eternal ruin. Certainly,
-that fearful calamity will come to
some home if she bar -room contin-
ues its deadly work..
Were you emir in a drunkard's
home? Do you know how sad and
awful is the terror that the home-
coming of a drunken father brings
to a little child, a child that yearns
for the oompa,pionship and love
and protection which the liquor
traffic has made -that father incap-
able of, the bar -room having turn-
ed him into what is worse than a
wild beast, a human being full
of passion Ad bitterness and
cruelty?
Who will take the responsibility
of making possible, by his neglect
to vote, the continuance of the
system that is certain to bring
such a result into homes that will
be happier and safer if the Local
Option by-law is carried and bar
rooms are closed.
