UNTRUE TO HIMSELF.
The minister who is silent on
the great and vital problems of
human life is untrue to himself
and his struggling fellow -beings.
How can he be silent when such
malignant force are disintegrating
society? There is the gigantic
evil. drawing its millions of money
from the pockets of the people and
giving in return degraded manhood
demoralized homes, and disorganiz-
ed society. There is the gambling
evil, whose damning miasma has
insinuated itself into the entire
body economic, producing moral
paralysis. There are moral im-
purities, political greed and graft,
and a host of kindred evils. Shall
we take a church parlor car and
travel through these infected re-
gions? Rather let us go with the
implements of practical Christiani-
ty and strive • to drain them, letting.
in the pure currents of righteous-
ness and troth. When inoculated
with the spirit oft Jesus, we, like
Him, become immune and may en-
ter and toil without fear of con-
tamination.
It is the minister's mission to
lead in the establishment of the
kingdom of heaven in the commu-
nity. The kingdom of heaven,
means honesty and justice in
government and purity in society.
It is the minister's business to
fight with all his energy whatever
in his community is detrimental to
honesty, justice, or purity. The
true prophet of God will not be
deterred from his divinely imposed
task by the whimperings of senti-
mental social parasities. the
threatenings of economic sharks,
the cruel criticisms of diminutive
politicians. nor the bitter sarcasm
of a prejudiced press. A muzzled
ministrymeans an emasculated
manhood, and a weakling in the
pulpit is a deplorable sight.
