County Temperance 'Convention
Thursday of last week the second
annual Temperance Convention for
Huron Co convened in the Presby-
terian Church, Blyth, with Pres.,
F Buchanan, of Winghaln, in the
chair. Three sessions full of vigor
were held.
Delegates were present from
nearly all of the municipalities in
the county and were fedi of entbn-
siasm at the prospect of the aboli-
tion of the bar and the treating
system.

Liquor so seized is not to be des-
troyed on conviction of the people

case. but is to be sold to license
holders, the money to go to the pro
vincial treasury to help meet ex-
penses of enforcing the law. Pro-
vision is made for the licensing of
hotels in•local option districts or
in districts where Poetises have
not been heretofore issued. In cit.

the license fee for shops and ta-
verns alike, which is now a thous-

affects only the city of Toronto.
Stringent provisions are made with
a view to further restricting the
sale of liquors to minors, who as
well as others, must disclose names
of persons illegally supplying liquor
or go to jail, and provincial brew-
ers and distillers receive some
ineasure of protection against out-
siders by the imposition of a fee of
three hundred dollars a year on
agents representing such persons.

the convention was the most prac-
tical and encouraging convention
of its kind he had ever attended
and he has attended a great many
in his day.
Local Option campaigns will
likely be organized this year in the
towns of Wingham and Clinton ;
the villages of Exeter, Bayfield and
Blyth ; and the townships of Step-
hen, Hay, Tnokersmith, Colborne,
Turnberry and Grey.
