The rush of immigration from
the United States to the Western
.Provinces has already begun. In
one day last week twenty car loads
of settlers' effects entered on the
Soo line and the next day forty
others followed.
The grown. of Northern Ontario
is well set forth in the statistics
for the past:; year in connection
with, the Teiiakaming and North-
ern Ontario Railway, the Govern-
ment road. -Total receipts for 1908
were $982,000, an inorease of $129,-
000 over 1907: Net earnings were
$284 000, as compared with $203,107
the previous -year. In addition the
net revenue was increased by ore
royalities amounting to $134,000,
whereas in 1907 these amounted to
only *50,901.. In 1907 operating
expenses were 751 per cent of the
earnings and last year 70.8 per
cent.
