Members and friends of the 14th
Con., Evangelical church. spent
New Years Eve, with their pastor
and family at the Evangelical par-
sonage. The Nestor was agreeably
surprised with several valuable
donations presented by the con-
gregation in recognition of the
friendly relations between pastor
and congregation. The evening
was spent in mtisie, instrumental
and.vopai, also several addresses.
Miss Flftie Geiger presided •at the
piano, Mr. J. Geiger and daughter,
Flossie rendered several instrumen-
tal duetts, which were highly ap-
preciated by all present. The lad-
ies of the congregation served a
sumptuous lunch, which was en-
joyed -by young and old. The
pastor wishes to extend his hearty
appreciation for the kindness of
meinbers and friends of the 14th
congregation.

Furniture and Undertaking

Returns so far received show
that local option by-laws carried in
twenty-two municipalities, and
were defeated in eight on a straight
vote, besides those places where
the majority was not up to the
three-fifths requirement.
The Guelph City Council has de-
cided to ask the County Judge to
investigate the allegations of•graft
in connection with the poolroom
bylaw, and to coniniend the new
Council to investigate all contracts
for ten ,years back.
