Ortwein of Hensall occupied the pulpit in the Evan- gelical church on Sunday last both morning and evening in the absence of the pastor, who is visiting among friends in Listowel. Mr Wurrn and Mr Ruby of . Zurich spent Sunday with friends here. Mr John Krueger who cliecl on Tues- day of last Week was buried on Friday in the Lut'her•ian cemetery, Rev P. Graupner. officiating. The sorrowing friends have the sympathy of the community in their sad bereavement, Mr George Kellermann shipped a carload of potatoes last week. Mr Harry 'Talbot of Blake is thresh- iing beans in this community. Mrs Jno Collingwood of Port Huron. who has been visiting at her home here left Tuesday morning for Port Huron. Though it is not generally known the Dominion Parliament passed an Act last Spring prohibiting the sale of butter in packages or wrapped in parchment paper that have not the, words"Creamery" or "Dairy' printed on each 'individual package, This means that all such butter sold on the market or in stores must state plainly to which class it belongs, Butter in rolls crocks and tubs do not require branding. Zapfe on Nov 10th Some of the members collected in the neighbourhood of Blake the sum of forty dollars in behalf of the Red Cross Society which kas been forwarded to Toronto, also the articles made by the Institute for the Society and three pair of socks donated by Mrs G. S. Howard. The next meeting will be held at the home of 1Vrs. McDonald on Tuesday December Sth, at 2,30 o'clock. All women are welcome.
