In one of the public school rooms
on Friday evening last the Zion Eva.n-
gelical School's Teacher
Training Class consisting of 21 mem-
bers wrote their first axamination.
The questions covered were on the
old testament history and were a fair
test of the work taken op by the class
far the past three months. These ex-
aminations are conducted by Bev. F.
C. Berger of Cleveland, Ohio, general
secretary of Sunday Schools and
Young Peoples Alliance. After the
examination all retired to the parson-
age where they were pleasantly enter-
tained by Rev. and Mrs. Becker and
partook of a daintylunch. The re-
mainder of the evening was spent in
a social chat and excellent music,

On Saturday, March the 7th, there
passed • away, Mr. Charles
Crehnan of Concrete, in Pembina
county. The deceased was born in
Germany, but in tarly life immigrated
to Canada where he located at Zurich
Ont., a place where many of the Ger-
man people of central and western
Pembina county originally came from.
In 1885 he came west with his wife
and family, first locating in nothorn
Minnesota and subsequently remov-
ing to Manitoba. In the spring of
1870 lie removed to western Pembina
county, N. Dalt. locating near the.
present site of the village of Concrete.
Hero lie lived. the balance of his life.
Four years ago his companion in life

In religious belief and profession he
