Sleepless Nights, Used Cuticura Soap and Cuticura Oint- ment, Complaint Gone. 70 Agricola St., Iialifex, N. S,--" Some time ago my finger nails began to drop off. the result it was believed of lead poisoning. The nails themselves were brittle and dry, the skin beneath being lifeless looking. My Angers were excessively painful causing sleepless nights. I was treated for about three mouths and the nails grew again but away from the flesh of the ,fingers and thou fell off again. 'Having heard a great deal of Cuticura Soap and Ointment I sent for a sample of both in the hope of their heating nay fingers which wer'e_yery painful. At night after washing my hands well with the Cuticura Soap I rubbed the Cuticura Ointment all around the finger ends and wore gloves to prevent the Ointment from being rubbed oft', then again in the morning washed nay hands with the Cuticura Soag. Tho Oakum Soap and Ointment had a cooling effect and after using them for a short while I was sur- prised to feel fingers much less sore and beginning to assume a more healthy appear- ance; the fungus which had grown under the , old nails disappeared and then new strong nails formed. This trouble had lasted about eighteen months before using Cuticura Soap and Ointment yet after using same for three months my Anger nails had grown strong and complaint hadentirely gone." Safety razors have been but a mixed blessing; they have made men forget how to shave. Apart from that, even a safety razor can only be used in one way if the best results are to be obtained. Which ever kind of razor you use, you should be careful always to shave with the run of the beard. Never shave .against -the grain ; it is bad for the skin, the beard, and the razor. A safety razor should be pressed flat against the face, and the action of 'a scythe should be imitated. That is to say, in=stead of running the razor st • ' 1a>ag ht :dawn vn , face, th e use a silrni-circular motion. Perhaps'the most important part of a shave is the lathering. The more the beard is lathered the Softer it will become; it is false economy to scamp this part of the performance in order to save time or trouble, An ordinary razor should always be stropped before and after use, and the soap should be thoroughly taken off it by hot water. A razor is ail the better for a. resb ocoa- si ovally. Learn how to use a strop proper- ly. The razor -strop shou'd hang from a point net higher than the waist-Iine. Shaving, and the care of a razor, is ascience; and the man who can keep his razor in good condition is a man to be en- vied, especially in the winter. Etlual to the Emergency. I grew very weak. Various remedies, .pilin, tonics and tablets I tried without permanent benefit. A visit to my sister ,alit into my hands a box of Dr. Hamilton's Pills. She placed reliance' uhon them and now that they have made me a well woman I' would not be without them whatever they might cost. I found Dr. Ram#1. ton's Pills by their mild yet searching action very suitable to the delicate character of a woman's nature. They never once griped me, yet they estab- lished regularity. A WONDERFUL DISCOVERY An eminent scientist, the other day, gave his opinion that the most won- sterful discevery of recent years was the discovery of Zam-Buk.. Just think! As soon as a. single thin layer of Zam ]auk le applied to a. wound or a sore, such injury is insured against blood poison ! Not one species of microbe has been found that Zam-Buk does not kill # Then again, As soon as Zam-Buk is applied to a sore, or a cut, or to 1 skin. disease, it stops the p smast# n That Is why children are such friends of Zarn-Iluk. They care nothing for the science of the thing. • All they know is that Zam-lluk stops their pain. Mothers should never forget this. Again. As soon as Zatn-Tuk is ap- plied to a wound or to a el seased part, the cells beneath the skin's sur- face are so stimulated that new healthy tissue is quickly formed. This forming of fresh healthy tissue from below is Zani-Buk's secret of healing, The tissue thus formed is worked up A to the surface and literally casts alt t the diseased tissue above it. This is why Zane-Buk cures are permanent. Only the other day Mr. Marsh, of 101 Delorimier Ave., Montreal, called upon the Zam-Buk Co. and told them that for over twenty-five years he had been a martyr to eczema. His hands were at one time so covered with sores that he bad to sleep In gloves. Pour years ago Zane-Buk was introduced to him, and in a few Mouths it cured hint. To -day --over three years after his cure of a disease be had for twenty -live years --he is (till cured, and has had no trace of any return of the eczema! • A11 druggists sell Zara-Buk at 50c, box, or we will send free trial box If you tend this advertisement and a lc. !tamp (to pay return postage), Ad. ureas Zam-Buk Co., Toronto. Baldwin, ar• highly respe•eted resi- dent of this place. And, Mrs, Bald- win gives her reasons. • "I was nearly helpless with rheumatism for two years," she states. "I got, medicine from the doctor, and tried several other remedies, but .nothing helped me. Then one of my 'neighbors advised me to try Dodd's Kidney Pills. I bought four boxes, and they helped almost from the fiat. I have used nearly two dozen boxes and am nearly cured." - That rheumatism is one one of the results of eliseased kidneys is again shown in Mrs. Baldwin's case. She had headaches, stiffness of the joints and .backaolie, her sleep was broken and unrefreshing, and she was always tired and ner- vous. Her limbs swelled and she was always thirsty. These are all symptoms of, diseased kidneys. When rhe cured her . kidneys with Dodd's Kidney Pills the symptoms vanished—and so did the rheuma- tism. — A certain minister was greatly disturbed by a number of women in his congregation who persistently gossiped'in aIoud tone during ser- vice. That there is a surprising scarcity of bacteria in dust has been, shown by recent experiments, Bymeans of the Aitken dust counter, one scientisb discovered that in the open suburbs of London there are 40,000 particles in every cubic inch of air, The same investigator found in London but one niierob.e to every 38 cubic inches of air. When air is constantly floating about and m,an is constantly mov- ing about, he comes in contact with a great deal of air space, and so in the course of a day runs a chance of breathing many microbes into his lungs. If, however,, every dark and damp place could suddenly be dried up and stirred up, the micro- organisms would be found in Terri-, fyingiy large numbers. It is the heat of the dna and than bright light that keep down these micro -organ% i:snxs, and so, even cin a dusty day, there is apoverty of microbes in the air, and if the sun be bright and hot.
