Full particulars later. • EXETER Mr. C. B. Snell has purchased through Gladman & Staabury five lots of land from Mr. A. Holland. Two of the lots are situated on Main Street north of B. W. F. Beavers residence and three lots are situated at the rear on Andrew street. Mr. Beavers has since purchased the lot north of his property Mr. Snell has also nuichased six lots of land on Albert Street from Mr. Jos. Davis. Miss Lavina Cookosn of Exeter, who has been making her home in Windsor was married in that place last week to Mr. George Petty, The young couple came to Exeter on their wedding trip. Mrs. David Cobbledick of Exeter North has. disposed of her general store business and 'post office to Mr. Steel of Hay Township, who takes possession about Dec. 1st. Miss Annie Cobbledick, who has been man- aging the business since her fathers death will return to British Columbia." Mr. Geo. Smallcombe who has been employed with Mr. W. J. Bea- man left on Saturday for Stratford where he has secured a position. Mr. S. Fitton of town recently re- ceived word from Dr. E. J. Eacrett who is studying medicine in London Eng. Dr. Emmett has recently com- pleted hie course in Burgin and has obtained the degrees of M. 'A. C. S. There was no church in the Meth-. odist church on Sunday evening ow- ing to the bac! weather. Mr. George Stanley of Lucan was to preach but owing to the bad weather could not get here. Mr. M. Southcott of Exet- er preached in the morning. Rev. Mr. Blatchford preached at Kippen. Mr. Thos Willis team, which gath- er the cream for his factory started out on Monday but had to return owing to the storm. Mr. Harry Essery was called here from Crystal City owing to the ser- ious illness of his wife, who is now in Victoria hospital London having un- dergone an operation. Mrs. Essery had come down for a visit with frien- ds. Messrs Fred and Ivan Essery and Mr. Elston and the Misses Elvin and Dells, Brooks attended the at home given by the pupils of the Exeter school on friday evening. Mr. James McDonald, of the '2nd concession of Stanley, had the misfor- tune to lose his pocket book a 'few days ago. He has no idea as to how or when he lost it, as some three or four hays had passed since he had us- ed it an it was not until he wanted to make some payments that the money was missed. The loss is quite a ser- ions one, as there were some $&d. in. the purse. GRAND BEND Mr. C. Zapfe observed his 80th. birthday on Monday of last week. Miss Gladys Patterson is laid , up. with rheumatism. We are glad to say that Mrs. Geo. Oliver is improving, under the care 'of Dr. Balfour of Dashwood. Miss Aggie Hayter has returned home afeer spending a month with her sister, Mrs. Hoclgins of .Granton. Ten horses were killed instantly, and another was so badly injured that it had to destroyed, by the Wolverine flyer on the Michigan Central Rail- way; ori thecl;ossing about three miles west of the station at Charing [Moss; in Kent county. Word has been received here by friends, of the death of Micheal Mc- Carthy at Osnabrook, N. D. son of the late Daniel McCarthy, formerly of 12th Con, Stephen. • Mr. Augustus Morrisery sr. of • the 14th Con, MeGillivary, passed away on Sunday, October, 26th, after sever- al months illness from an inward grawth. Deceased was one of the. earlier settler of this locality. He is survived by hiS aged wife, one daugh- ter, Mrs. Cassidy, of Detroit, and two sons, Augustus and Thomas. The funeral took place on Tuesday Oct. 28th, to the Church of Our Lady of Mt. Cannel and was largely attended. TIMELY TEMPERANCE TONICS.
