The Scott Act petitions for Huron
County are now being returned to the
secretary of the secretary of the
Huron County Alliance, J. A. Irvin
I of Clinton. Last week's batch had
the signatures of 2,200 voters. Exe-
ter's petition had more than the requir-
ed 25 per cent.
J. L. Russell, of Russeldale, presi-
dent of Usborne & Ribbert Mutual
Fire Insurance Company, met with a
serious accident the other day. He
and his son Percy were out driving
and had stopped to water the horsa.
The bridle caught on a nail in the
trough and was pulled off, frightening
the horse. The animal turned and
ran against a wire fence, throwing
out Mr. Russell. Besides being
scratched and bruised, he sustained a
brken hip and several broken ribs
His injuries will lay him aside for
some time.
It is hinted. that His Honour Judge
Doyle, a well known legal persorage
for many years in Huron County and
who entitled to retirement from the
bench, may do so before long and en-
joy a deserved holiday. In case of
this taking place Judge Holt would
likely promote to the senior Judgeship
of the County, for which he is well
fitted, and the junior Judge vacancy be
filled by one of the legal lights of this
County.. Among likely timber is
Barrister Holmes, Wiugham; Dickson.
Exeter; and Hays, Goderieh. Other
prominent mad, who would fill the
post with equal acceptance, would
likely be barred owaug to the political
faith. Judge Doyle has filled his post
