Mrs. Sam Brown who has visiting in Zurich, returned Monday. Rev. Grenzebach preached two ex- cellent sermons in Zurich on Sunday. Miss Leila Siebert was the guest of Miss Marie Ravelle a few days last week. Mr. Wilson and daughter Miss Wilson of Cronaatry visited his sister Mrs. Routledge, a few days this week. Mr. J. Hoffman was in Tavistock last week attending the funeral of the late Mrs. J. Lingleback, Mr. Ed. Siebert is visiting in Platsville, Tavistook and Berlin on business, this week. There are about fifteen pupils writing on their• Entrance Exams this year. Mrs. August Schroeder of Mich. arrived in town Tuesday to visit friends and relatives. Dr. Balfour wax in London over Sunday. Miss Nelda Truemner of Zurich was in town Sunday. Mr. Davis at Exeter, spent a few days in town this week. Mrs. Betchen spent Tuesday in Exeter. On Wednesday the Lutherans held their annual picnic and every- body had an enjoyable time. Mrs. Smith of London who was taken seriously ill at her sister Miss England is improving. GRAND BEND John Statton and Mrs. Walter Stat - ton left Saturday for New Ontario: Rev. Grenzebach of Dashwood preached in the kresbyteriau Church on Sunday the 8th. Mr. and Mrs. Clark, of Hamilton have arrived here to camp for the summer. Mr. and Mrs. Gunclie and family of Toronto, are camping at the Bend. CREDITON The entire community in this vic- inity were deeply moved when it was known that Melinda. wife of Mr. Eldrid A. Lillow, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. Trick, had been sud- denly called away in her 24th year. This young useful and promising life was spent in this neighborhood; and though of a quiet nature, her sterling qualities endeared her to the hearts of many. She was in- terested in religious matters and was an active member of the Evangelical ihurch. Only two years ago she was married with bright prospects for a long and happy life, but God has seen better things for her and taken her to other and higher activities. Her call was sudden while conversing with her mother she spoke of feeling sleepy and in a short time entered that sleep that knows no awakening. Her hus- band was absent from home and could not reach her until the fatal spark bad fled. The deceased leaves 1 to mourn her loss the husband and A„ infant son of len days, her parents and brother, Harry. The funeral was held on Monday and was attended by a large number of sorrowing friends, The sympathy of this community is extended to the bereaved ones. Miss L. EXETER David Cobbledick aged 65, for ,. the. past eight years general- storekeeper here, and prior to that a resident of Ailsa Craig, died at his home Friday after an alness extending over many months. He was a lifelong Liberal and an active temperance worker. For. many years he was an official in the Methodist church. Besides his 'wife he leaves daughters: Mrs. Oehn, of Shakespeare; Mrs. Carter of Clande boy; and Miss Annie at home; Joseph of Calgary, and Rev. George Cobble- dick, in Alberta, are brothers. ' The funeral took place on Monday . after- noon and on Sunday, June 22, a memorial service will be held in the Methodist Church. Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Gardiner ,Far- quhar announce the engagement of their eldest daughter Isabelle M. to Mr. Benard IC. George of Battleford, Sask., marriage to take place the lat- ter part of June. Miss Katie I. Collin formerly ' of Exeter. and Miss .Jean B. GOSHEN LINE Mr. Emery Manson has gone home on account of illness. Mr. Russell Schrader spent Sunday at his home iu Shipka. On last 'Wednesday night the Cre- diton Brownies came back to give the. Maple Leafs a game of ball'but ret- urned home defeated, the score being 7-8. Miss Vera Eilber spent Sunday visiting friends on the line. On Friday night the Maple Leafs went to Shipka to give the Ramblers a game of ball. The Maple Leafs proved to be to fast for them the score being 3-11 in favor of the Maple Leafs. Mr. and Mrs. William Yearley att- ended the circus at London on Thurs- day last. Mr. Albert Keys spent Sunday ev- ening at Mr. William Yearleys. Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Allan attended the picnic at the Bend on Saturday., Miss Edna Finkbeiner is busy ser- wing on the line. The Masons are busy putting a wall under Mr. Rueben Davy's barn. SHIPKA Mr. Harry Schenk called on Mr. Fred Gaiser's Sunday. Mr. Herb. Guenther of Buffalo N. Y. visited with Mr. Jacob and Fred Gaiser's for a week. The Shipka Methodist Church are holding there strawberry festival Tue- sday June 24, Supper served from 6 to 8 and a good program is being pre- pared. Miss Martha Baynhani visited with Mr. and Mrs. Darr. of Salem for a few days. On Saturday last was Shipka Sun- day School picnic and the Shipka Ramblers played Ball with Cameron siding in the evening. The score be- ing 16 -1 in favour of the Ramblers.
