rich in honor of his birthday and spent
a pleasant time. Noah has joined
the bachelors line now, but there is
corn in Egypt yet.
Miss Emma Hoffman is visiting at
J. Harpy at Centralia.
Mr. Ezra Witzel is busy boiling
sap these days, he says he has no
creek to cross and a poor swimmer.
Mr. Benjaman McCann is busy
repairing roofs these days.

A severe storm ofwind passed over
this locality on Fride - last unroofing
barns, blowing down old building
here and there, upsetting and break-
ing windmills, mislg very few
homes without causing any damage.
Miss Hazel Sheritt of Ottawa acc-
ompanied by Miss Lydia and Master
Aaron are spending the - Faster hol-
idays at home.

The death of Mrs. Elizabeth Glenn
beloved wife of MIr. T. M. gay, occur -
e l at the family residence on Sunday
last, after an illness of a few weeks..
Mr_. Kay has been a sufferer from
bronchitis for some time but succumb-,�
ed to a severe attack of pneltmonia.
The deceased was in her 65th year
and lerves her husband and three bro-
thers to mourn her loss.
Mrs. Singular who is making her
home with her mother Mrs. Wm.
Bagshaw and . who is over
90 years of age fell one day last week,
injuring her leg and is now confined
to her bed.
A quiet wedding took place on
Wednesday at the James street par-
sonage, when Miss Jennie, daughter
of Mr. Richard Delbridge, was united
in marriage to Mr. H. Brown of the
Thames Road.
MIr. John Hawkslaaw is confined to
his bed through illness.
Mrs. Wm. Bawden has purchased
the brick dwelling owned by Mr. Jai.
White of Hensall and occupied.b

MIr. Chas. Cann will shortly move
into town having purchased the pro-

Rev. D. N. McCamns of London,
occupied the pulpit of James st. church
at both service on Sunday last.
The death took plach at Whitby on
Seturday last of Dr. W. 0. Eastwood,
father of Mrs. J. G. Stanburry of Ex-
eter, at the age of b2 years. He had
been in failing health for some time
Mrs. Stanburry was at the bedside,she
having been called to Whitby last I
week. The funeral took place Mon-
, day afternoon, Mrs. Stanburry has the
sympathy of her many friends.
The annual Vestry meeting of the
Teivitt Memorial Church was held on
Monday night last. The financial
year does not expire until April 15th.

not be presented till that date. The
report promises to show a good bal-
ance on the right side, the details of
which will be given at the adjourned
meeting to be held on Monday night,
April 14th.
The Exeter Agricultural Society's
Board of Directors met on Saturday
in their annual Spring meeting, Ar-
rangements were made for the renting
of the ground and the crop competition.
The Exeter public school opened on
Monday, after a holiday of three
weeks. All the cases of smallpox are
out of quarantine, and nearly every-
body going to school has been yaccin-
eted. All had to have certificates be-
fore they could get hack to school.
A quirt Wedding took place on
Wednesday morning when Miss
Annie, daughter Mr. H Jones,
London Road South, was unit-
ed in marriage to Milton Sleamons, a
prosperous young farmer. The cere-
mony was performed by Rev. M. Mc
Allister.

sawing a large timber, with a heavy
cross cut saw, each in turn pulling it
back and forth. A pugilist Irishman
stopped to watch the operation, In a
minute he hit the negro, saving,
"give the saw to the little fellow if he
wants it."
