Mrs. J. F. Rickbeil left on. Satur-

While driving from Hensall to Exe-
Thursday afternoon of last .week, Mr.
Robert Thomas, of London, and Mr,
F. Carlin, of the King George Hotel,
Hensall, were thrown out when the
harness went wrong, and the horse
ran away. Both were taken to Hen-
sall, where their injuries were dressed,
then Mr. Thomas was brought
to London on the L. H. and B.,
and was placed in charge of Dr. W.
J. Stevenson, at Victoria Hospital.
Mr. Thomas' right leg was broken and
he was badly shaken up, while Mr.
Carlin's head was deeply gashed.
In the death of Mr. Joseph Regier,
Hay Township loses one of its most
highly respected citizens, St. Boniface
church a valued and consistent mem-
ber, and the family a husband and
father that was always kind and con-
siderate for their welfare. About two
weeks ago the deceased was attacked
with appendicitis and as soon as it was
considered safe, an operation was per-
formed by Dr. Gunn of Clinton,
assisted by Dr: Campbell of town and
Dr. Hyndman of Exeter. The opera-
tion though of a very serious nature,
was successfluly performed and for
the next eight days the patient was
doing fine. Thursday night during a
spell of violent coughing, a blood ves-
sel burst in the region of the spine,'
and the nurse immediately summoned
medical aid. Drs. Campbell and Mac
Kinnon arrived in a very short time
and . managed to partially stop the
hemmorhage. Dr. Gunn was also
sent for, and arrived in less than three
hours. It was then seen that the case
hopeless and that death must result
in a short time. The patient grew
gradually weaker and breathed his
last at about. two o'clock Saturday
afternoon. He was in the prime of
of life, being in the 47th year of his
age. IIe leaves a widow, a daughter.

and a family of nine children who
deeply mourn his early damise. He
also leaves several brothers and sisters,
and a host of tvarm friends who sin-
cerely regret the loss of a faithful
friend and neighbor. The funeral
took place on Monday forenoon, to St,
Boniface church and was' one of the-
largest
helargest seen in this, section for a .long
time

ening Jan. 81st. The auctioning of
the boxes creates no end of fun, and
should be entered into heartily by
every person in the hall.
Miss B. May Rance, who will ap-
pear in the Town Hall here, on Tues-
day evening in connection with the
Orpheus Quartette Concert, has re-
markable ability as an elocutionist and
as a mirth and laugh producer she has
few equals. Reserved seats may be
obtained from Mr. Andy Hess.
The Women's Christian Temperance
Union met last Wednesday afternoon
at the home of Mrs. C. Fritz, The
Derotional exercisees were ably con-
ducted by Mrs. C. Fritz, after which
the President Mrs. Merner took charge
of the business The Educational half
hour was taken by Mrs. E. Paulin
of Regina,.who gave a very instruct-
ive talk on Temperance work in the
West. The meeting closed with sing-
ing the Temperance Doxology.
A Box Social under the auspices of
the W. C. T. U. will be given in the
Town Hall Friday evening Jan. 31st
at eight o'clock sharp. A good mus-
ical and literary programme will be
given, after which the boxes of re-
freshments, provided by every lady
present, will be sold. The coffee will
be supplied free. Everyone is cor-
dially invited to attend and enjoy a
whole evenings fun.
Mrs. Win. Wagner desires to extend
her sincere thanks for the assistance
so kindly rendered by her neighbors
during and since the continued illness
of her husband, who is still unable to
leave his bed. Mr. Wagner has been
laid up for nearly a year and has suf-
fered a great deal. It is to be hoped
that he may soon recover sufficiently
to be able to leave the house, although
it is unlikely he will ever be able to
resume heavy farm work.
The handsome new St. Peter's
Lutheran Church, just completed, at
a costof $7000, by the StratfordLuther
tins of the Missouri Synod, was form-
erly opened on Sunday last by the
pastor,. Rev. Frank Malins.ky. The de-
dicatory . sermon was preached by
Rev, W. C. Boese, of Berlin, president
of the Canada Conference of the Mis-
souri Synod. Rev. S. B. Eix, Rev,
Jobr Neeb, of Rhineland, and Rev.
Theo. Huegli, of Logan, took part in
e ftevnoop and evening services.
