MacDonald met with a painful •accident on Saturday when he fell out of a rig and suffered a double fracture of his collar bone. Mr. MacDonald was having some baled hay delivered to the stables at the race track where he had several head of ,cattle. Mr. Sanderson, driver of Mills Flour & Feed wagon, and Mr. MacDonald were standing in front of the hay and we understand; when turning the corner at Lower Weaghain store, Mr. MacDonald swung oyer and his feet being caugleta went out landing heavily on his shoulder. Annual Donations Generous In November the Women's Auxil- iary to the General Hospital held. their :annual donation day for the Hospital. This year the ladies adopted the plan tof calling at the homes and collecting eany donations the people had ready. 'The response was exceedingly getter - ens, there being very few who didn't kelp in sortie way. Owing to the very ,large number of contributors it is im- possible to name each one individually , 'but the Auxiliary wishes to thankmost liteartily each and every one who assis- ted in making this Donation Day such a great success. The' following is, a ,iist of donations receitred: $3.o3 incash, zot jars of fruit, pickles, jelly and syr - pail honey; barrel. and 2 bags -of apples; 2 bags potatoes; r bag salt; 2 bags flour; 6 lbs. butter; i duck; 2 -bath mats; dishes for a tray; quantit- ies of other vegetables, pumpkins, cau- liflower, cabbage, carrots, onions, beets,- turnips, etc. Methodist Sunday School • A special session was 'held in the Methodist Sunday School on Stuada.y, last. It was father's day in the Sun 'ay School, There were three or four special features of the session worthy of mention: i, The piano solo by Miss Mahood, she rna.de the piano.talle 2, The number of young men who took part in the opening execises, Messrs. COUNGIL MEETING December Meeting Crowded With Business 'The regular December meeting of the Wingham Town Council was held on Wednesday evenfng at 8 o'clock. All members were present but Reeve Tipling who was in attendance at County Council. His worship Mayor Elliott presided. Letter from the Ontario treasury department was read explaining the payment of Railway Tax Distribution amounting 'to $115.28 for x923. • The' report of the Medical Officer of Health or the current year was read. A letter was also read from Dr. Fraser, Distriet Officer of Health in regard to condition • of Methodist Church shed, in -which he stated that said shed was in a sanitary condition. A eheque 'for $25.00 was received 'from the Junior Wornen's Institute to apply on repairs to the town hall. On motion of Coims. Smith and Greer the cheque was accePted with thanks. The usual lot of year end accounts were presented and ordered paid when certified to. • The Turnberry Agricultural Society was permited to take the thnber be- longing to: them and forming part of the bridge leading across the riverto grounds formerly used by them on McIntosh Street. We are pleased to note that Mrs. J. A. Wallace has returned from St. Thomas, where she was recuperating after an operation for appendicitis at the home of her father, Mr. W. K. Cameron, K. C. The attendance -was excellent from 175 to 200 being pre- sent. The programme for the parlia- ment and the carrying out of 'the same was almost perfect. Mr. W. B. Mc - Coot acted as clerk, and after calling the house to order, asked for the ap- pointment of a speaker. On motion Mr. A. H. Musgrove was appointed to the wOrthy position which he filled with grace and great fairness. He was conducted to his seat by the Sergeant - at -arms, Dr. George Howson, who car- ried the mace, and acted the part to perfection. The leader of the Government is Mr. E. Sherbondy gootlfellowship chairman for 't he even - g, Organ Soloist at London Concert On Thursday evening last the Lon- don Choral Society gave the first of their Season's Concerts, consisting of Meridelsohn Lobgescmg ("Hymn of Praise") in St. Pauls Cathedral of that city. The soprano solist of the even- ing was Miss Hilda MacMillan who sometitne ago delighted Wingham notsie lovers with her singing. Miss Bessie Abell one of our own young ladies and organist of St. Paula church of this town, was the ottan soloist of the evening. Miss Abell is one of the coming organists. Her knowledge of organ registration and management are most complete as is also her tech- nicote and quick adaption.
