a genuine problem.. It is suggested
that any person owning a receiver
and who is found to be giving out rac-
ing news, have his license cancelled.
However, the issuing of licenses for
radio receivers is solely controlled by
the Federal Government and. it is
doubtful if they would be agreeable
to this procedure. With the develop-
ment of radio frequency amplication
it would be very difficult to locate
all receivers whether licensed or not,
as with this type of receiver, no out-
side wires are required.
There are quite a few birdlike
whistles In the air in this vicinity
these evenings. These are caused by
using too much current on the detec-
tor bulb and as no advantage is gain -
in audibility the current should be
kept as low as possible in order to
prolong 'the lifetime of tubes. A
little consideration by users of violet
ray machines would be appreciated by
listeners in. When any of these ma-
chines are turned on a very strong
buzzing sound is heard on radio re-
ceivers M the neighboremod and. this
