We came home part -of the way along the Paci- TIC noasr to noronacia, a beauti u lit- tle city on the beach. We then drove on to a ferry and across the bay to San Diego. On Sunday, December 3this, our good friend, Thos. Porter came along again with his car and drove us about 20 miles through East San Diego, La Cajou. We passed some very large orange and /einon groves and one vineyard of 1500 ac- res. He took us up a high mountain in a car and I felt relieved 'when we landed at ,the bottom. We will not forget nfie Porter's kindness, he tried to show us things worth seeing, he did not try to save his car, time or gasoline if the road was pavement he travelled fast, if there was anything interesting he would drive over a rough road to show us same. On the evening of December 3xst., we went to a church service on a bat- tle ship, (Regal), we had- to take a gasoline launch quite a way out in the bay tn reach the ship, this was very interesting to us all. The service was principally to the sailor boys. Now for the interesting part A. 0. On New Year's morning eve (n of us), left about 16 o'clock and took the ferry across to Coronado which is right on the Beach and would you be- lieve me when I tell you there were men, women awl children in the oc- ean having a big time. It was really hot, for after bathing they would play around in the sand for an hour before clressirig themselves. All of our crowd did a little wading except Mrs, Stewart and myself, sWell no doubt you will be tired reading this poorly composed scribble, so will close, wishing you and yoms a prosperous 2923, I am, Yours sincerely, 5, G.
