Price Bros., is making contracts for
newsprint on a basis of $3.75 per hurl,
dred pounds, or $75.00 per ton.
This rate is applicable during the
first six months of 1923. It is an in-
crease over 1'922 contracts of $5 oo

Died In Alberta •
Rey, Geo. A. Mitchell, B. A. passed
away at the 'tome of his daughter at
Itacornbe, Alberta, on Sunday, in his
82nd: year. The funeral will be held
to Toronto
Mr. Mitchell was pastor of the

forty years ago and will. be kindly re_

Will Put On Minstrel Show %
At the regular fortnightly ltt hcheon
held it the Queens 'Hetet by the
Lions' Club of Wingharn, it was de-
cided to • put on a minstrel show in
the near future with a view to raisipg
funds to send to the fire sufferers of
Northern Ontario, The- Lions are al-
so ,getting behind the War memorial

Wingham General Hospital
The following is it sYnelssis of the
anpual report of the Ladies' Auxiliary
to the Wingliam General Hospital,
from October t4tlx., 1921, to 'October
t3th, 1920
The object of this society is to sup --
ply °or local -hospital with bedding,
linens, dishes for patients and staff
table, and small sundries necessary to
the upkeep of the hospital,
The meetings of the Auxiliary are
held on the first Monday of the month
in the. council chamber at 3.45. Ladies
are cordially invited to attend:
The Auxiliary held ten regular and
two special meetings. During the year
-3 teas were hetd at respective homes
of Mrs, R. Vanstone, Mrs. I. A. Mac-
lean and Mrs. Clegg. Proceeds from
the three amounted to $51.86. A. euch-
re and dance was given in the Arms
entries, proceeds from which amounted
to $to5.5o. The ladies undertoolc
rnake autograph, quilt, the proceeds
from which to date atnounts to $60.05.

Mr. A. M. Frhlick presented the ed-
itor -with five large winter pears which
weigh four pounds. We will relish
this treat some cold, evening in Dec-
ember. We have seen few winter
pears, as large ast this quintette.
York township funds are over $4,000
short. This includes 66 ratepayers,
who have produced receipts for taxes.
Wingliam is lucky to have a tax col-
lector like they have in Allan Fralick.
He is not only honest but his books
are a picture. .
Messrs. Bond and McBride, hydro
auditors, were in town last week aud-
iting the books of the Secretary -Tre-
asurer, Mr. W. A. Galbraith. They

Judge Dickson presided over the
Coert of Revision of the Voters' List
itt Wingham on :Wednesday. The
names of two of the older residents
were struck off, viz., Thos, L. jobb
and Henry Davis. T3oth of these gen-
tlemen came to Wingham over fifty
years ago, both were carriage makers
and members of .the church of Eng-
land and staunch friends. It was
quite at appropriate co -incidence that
both xiseo passed away during the
summer of 1922.
Successful Anniversary Services
Successful anniversary servicee were
conducted in St, Andrews Presbyter-
ian church on Sunday and Monday.
011 Sunday, Rev. 5. 5, Patterson of
Sarnia. preached at both services. The
choir under the leadership of Mr. F.
J. Hill was at its bes t. On
Monday a splendid fowl supper was
held in the basement of the church,
-after which an excellent program was
retdered in the atidttorium of the
church which WaS daintily decorated
for the occasion, • 'rhe program con-
sisted of addresses by Rey. C. Tait of
Bhievale; Rev. C. G. Jones of Bel -
grave, and Rev, 3 S..Scobie of Whites
church; Selos were rendered by Miss
Bertha MatKay, Miss Munro, Mrs. C.
G. Jones, Mr. F, Hanmote and. Mr, A,

One of the most representative
gatherings present for some time at-
tended the Board of Trade meeting on
Friday evening, in the Town Hall.
Several importatt matters Were dis-
cussed,
On of the most important topics
was the different rates charged for
hydro power in different tewria. It
was decided to have a meeting it
Wingham on Friday afternoon, Nov-
ember 3rd., at which different reores
semetives of the different municipal-
ities would be present and - probably
form a district association with it
view to presenting an appeal to the
govesrpneiankeenrt: Mr, James Malcolm, M.
P. of North Bruce, will be the princi-
palA banquet will be held in the
ouries on Frday evening, Noverriber
3rd., at which Mr. John „R. Shaw,
President of Canadian Manufacturers'
Association and head of the C. F. M.,
of Woodstock, of which two factories
are in Ingham, will be the speaker.
Further announcement regarding this
banquet will be -given next week.
Donation Week For The Hospital
The tveek of October 23rd. to 28th.,
will be donation week for the General
Hospital, when the Ladies' Auxiliary
are asking everyone to contribute
something. Supplies of :fruit, veget-
ables, canned fruits and jellies, pro-
duce, etc., will be gratefully received.
All donations to be left at the Hos-
pital. Let each one have a share inj
this good work.
