The St. Augustine Women's Insti-
tute held their monthly meeting at the
home of Mrs. Joseph Thompson on
September 6th. President, Mrs. 'Day -
id Chamney occupied the chair. After
the opening exercises, it was decided
to have a dust cap shower at the
next meeting. Miss :l3etty McAllister.
then read a splendid paper, her sub-
ject; was "The Ideal Institute Wom-
en." We then had soine:instrumental
music,. after which Mrs. Tlzornpson
react a paper, her subject was:—"Hap-
piness through Conversation and Soc-
ial Life," this was much enjoyed by
everyone. .
Mrs: Joseph Chamney kindly invited
the Institute to her home for the
nett meeting, on October 4th: .The
meeting closed by singing God Save
the King, Mrs. Thompson then serv-
ed the ladies with a,splendid luncheon.

resided since. He was in his: 52nd
year ,.and is survived by his brother.

the same as last year.
IWhen the results of the Entrance
exams were made known it was an
l nounced that Miss. Margaret Shaw of
Walkerton had won the Halliday
medal which is given to the student
' of Bruce County, taking highest
'marks, but the honor has come to
I Miss Jean. Stewart of Lucknow, and
1 Mr. Halliday came to' town and pre-
sented his beautiful medal to Miss
Stewart last week. This is the seven-
, th time this honor has come to Luck-
l now school and this is a retord to be.
