After the game in Clinton on Wed-
nesday afternoon, of last week, spec-
tators who were non -interested stated
that the better team won, end we can't
see where a Goderich paper gets their
idea that the Purities are in 0r/3,7 way
superior to the Wingliarraites,
Garner pitched the game for Wing -
ham and Young, of Buffalo fame, pit-
ched for Gocierich. Both pitchers are
good ones but the former is the' best.
Arnott as catcher also deserves a
good deal of credit, he plays a splen-
did game, although he does not pro-
fess to be a catcher as he would soot.-
er play' any other place on the team.
Wingham, boys deserve great praise
all through the 'game, everyone of
the players were right on the . job.
Following is a chpping- from tlfe write-
up in the Gocierich Star which gives
credit where it is dee.
"Too much Garter. This boy cer-
tainly had his day yesterday and in
eivieg• credit whern credit is due oee
must say that George Garner, Esq., is
a sweet ' little twirler ---and farther-
maee that sweet little pitcher pitched
one of the swellest games he has
pitched in his twirling career. He
worked in perfect confidence and had
our representatives "jinxed" with a
pretty change pf pace. George would
drift over a few slow twisters for a
while and then suddenly would turn
on the gas and sizzle them ' over—
much, to the sorrow of the Purities.-

o' When Arnot ran into McCarron at
second base and made his nose bleed
, a Clinton spectator was outspoken
s enough to tell McCarron it served
him right and for this he undertook
to punch him. This delayed the game
for a while and Wingham notified the
referee that they would play the genie
under protest because of a player
fighting. Umpire Daly refused to al-
low McCarron to come back in the
game and Wingham withdrew the
protest.
