GORDON JEFFERSON DEAD
Died Very Suddenly at Hie Pi ther"s
in Saskatchewan
A 000111 was cast over this vicin-
ity on Thursday when it was learned
that Gordon Jeffeison was dead.
People who knew him could scarcely
believe it, for it was only on the
previous Saturday morning that he
bearded the C.P.R. in apparently his
usual health for to visit his home in
the West. Mr. T. R. Bennett sat in
the seat with him as far as Wroxeter
and he appeared to be in the best
of spirits and said he wes going for
a short visit to his people. On Tues-
day night he reached his home in
Laura, Sask., and his father says he
ate a hearty dinner and supper on
Wednesday, and on Wednesday night
assisted with the chores, afterwards
Sitting chatting with his father till
about eleven o'clock. About one
o'clock his father heard him moaning
and shouting as if in a nightmare and
on going to his room footed him dy-
ing. He had evidently been seized
with paralysis of the heart. He was
twenty-eight years of age and to the
members of his family. -we express
the heartfelt sympathy of a large
circle of Gordon's friends in Wing -
ham. His mother is not in very good
health and another brother, who was
badly burned when his store at Har-
ris was destroyed by flarnes a short
time ago, is at present undergoing
treatment in Mayo Bros. Hospital,
Chicago. _
Since coming to Winghain about
three years ago when he resided with
his uncle and. aunt, Mr. and Mrs.
Sanntel Bennett, Gordon endeared
himself to everyone. He worked for
a time in his uncle'S planing mill and
afterwards became a member of the
firm of Fry & Blackhall, Limited. He
worked in this factory for a titne but
since his return from his home a few
months ago, he has been assisting as
a clerk at Hanna & Co's, Gordon was
a member of the ASTingbain Methodist
Church choir and a prominent mem-
ber of the Sunday School and the
Epworth League. 1 -lis pastor, Reva4
C. E. Gregg, referred touchingly to
the life- of the deceased since his
corning among us almost three years
ago.
The different organisations of the
young people of the Wingham Meth-

Struck on the Head
While making some alterations at
the pinning mill last week, Mr. W.
E. Mahood met with a very painful
accident, when a large upright beam
he was using along with a jack to
level up some parts of the building,
sprung for its position, and, striking
Mr. Mahood on the side of the head,
kuocked hint out for some time. He
was taken to his boarding house and
