When life was one continual glow? That doesn't seem so long. ago, Do you remember how intense We followed butterflies and bees, And chased the squirrel along the fence, And gathered gum from cedar trees? No care or sorrow 'did' we know; That doesn't seem so long ago. Do you remember summer days, When we for berries went in quest, And how often ere we filled our trays We, found a yellowjackets nest Just where the ripest berries grow? That doesn't seem so long ago. Do you remember winter play, When we went gliding down the, hill, How Oft We tumbled from our sleigh. And shared the fate of Jack and Jill? And giants great we built of snow; That doesn't seem" so long ago. Do you remember when we came (As time went by) to manhood years? Wecared 'less for the childish game, And dried away the childish tears, And settled down to hoe our row; That doesn't seenm. so long ago. But one by one the years have flown, And ofie by one earth's pleasures changed, And now that we have older grown, We find the unseen hand arranged, The pathway for our.' feet below, From childhood days of long ago.
