Tle Young People's Society of the
United Church here held a very suc-
cessful picnic on Friday last in God-
erich. All the cars were well loaded
and everyone enjoyed the outing to
the fullest extent, The Millers and
MacKenzies also held a picnic there

Ate Bathers Clothes
A few of the youths of Mildmay,
who went in bathing recently had
the chagrin of seeing their clothes
being consumed by a herd of cattle
One chap had nothing left and had
to waif until the others got_him some
clothing before he could get home
An Unfortunate Accident
Archie Grewar of -, Brussels. met
with an unfortunate eccident while
playing soft ball at the He,tfryn
tournament. .While running the bas
es he slipped and fell, fracturing his
hip bone. He was immediately ?ken
to Stratford Hospital, where an
X-ray showed' that a small portion
was broken off the upper portion, ..f
his hip bone. The fracture is said; by
physicians to be a very unusual came:
Needle Penetrates Girl's Heart,
Little Irene Fothergill eight. year
old. daughter of Mrs. Wm. Fothergill,
while playing, •fell and hurt herself
and was rushed to Dr. Weir's office
at Auburn and then to Goderich
Hospital, where she was put under
X-ray and to their surprise located
a sewing machine needle penetrating
the ;heart. It was removed and the
little girl is out of danger again, but
still under the doctor's care. Mr. Wm.
Fothergill, her father was killed last
Mayin a ` runaway accident. Much
sympathy is exteiided to Mrs,Foth-
ergill in her hours of trouble,
is at present visiting with relatives
and; friends here.
Dr. John and Mrs. Coultes, Miss
Mabel' and Master Jack Coultes, spent
Sunday with Charles Coultes.
Mr. and Mrs. C. Thornton of Ed-
monton, Alta, left today for 'home af-
ter spending the past few weeks with
relatives here.
Rev. W. J. West of Atwood, had
charge of services in the Presbyter-
ian church on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Gallaher
spent Sunday at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. W. Thornton.

TURNBERRY
On Tuesday of last week,. Dr. Stew-
art of Wingham took Mr. George
Campbell, who lives on the 4th con
of••Turnberry, to the. Fergus Hospital,
where• he underwent a rather serious
operation, last advice was he was do-
ing as well.as could be. expected. His
many friends around here will wish
for a speedy' recovery.
