SCHOOL CONCERT •••
:Fite Continuation School Concert
on Friday night in the Town Hall
was a gr.ltat success considering the
'handicaps, such as bad roads and so
much sickness, 'quite a 4,rintnber of
those taking part were quite sick, but
lather than spoil the play- took their
'" parts and all deserve credit for'' taking
their parts so well, Also the teachers
for their time and patience in •drill-
ing the scholars so well.
The welcome song and drill of four-
teen girls in pretty costumes carrying
white lillieS' •was fine. Miss Olive
Lawrence sang very nicely. The
song to the tune of Yankee Doodle
by the boys especially the foot work
was‘ immense. The school paper by
Winnie Rea 011 "Twenty Years From
Now" and read by Harvey Plant was
well gotten up,
The play a thiee act comedy drama,

entitled "Aaron Boggs Freshman"

Edgar as Bean Carter and. George Mi-
nes as Pepper Jarvis, pkominent in
the hazing 'Of the freslnnan. George
Paulin as E. P. Boggs, „father of Aar-
on, prominent in Splinterville took his
part well. Murdie Edgar as Mr.
Chubb, born tired with always an ex-
cuse to avoid work and Jim Sanderson

acted the Jew well, Eelih Earlas
Miss Feeny waitress and formerly of
Splinterville, recognized a former lo-

she cert'ainly took her pat exceeding-
ly well. Mr. Jorie Balcer and Olive

as Lois Hunter, a friend to the new
girl freshie, had hers up well. Winnie
Rea as Cherry Carrtithers, soon for-
got her ,boy lover back in Splinter-
vilte,'Under the sunny Way of hand-
some Jimmy Jamieson, she was on?
of the best among the girls, Margaret
Gibson as Loretta, Rae did well. Mar-
garet 'Davey as Dollie DeCliff a Vag-
deville Queen, drawing down $4o.00 a
week on the stage on a visit horne,
was the envy of the College •girls.
Miss Mueiel Robinson presidesl at
the piano. Proceeds amounted to
$75.00.

Conclusion -of Sewing Course
Last Thursday saw the conclusion
of the ten day Sewing Course which
was under the auspices of the Wo-
men's Institute. Miss McLaughlin of
the Ontario Dept. of Agriculture was
the capable dernonstratoT. Owing to
sickness 3 of the members were un-
able to be 'there for the finish, but
the remainder of the class, each had
a pretty dress to their credit as well
as many helpful ideas.. A snapshot
was taken after which Mrs. Hoperoft
served 21 dainty lunch. "

As there is nothing like a jolly
good laugh, why n,ot tell our dreams
like Timothy Hay. We all dram
dram 08, A resident of the village
dreamed recently that our football
boys competed with the Wroxeter
boys and were beaten 22 to o. The
last seen of ohr boys they were all
shedding tears. Of course this was
only a dream, maby it was the ctirl-
me of Mrs. A. I. Brown was of an Ir-
ish character and the program was in-
lerspersed with Irish songs, An in-
teresting.paper on, "Ireland, Past and
Present," was given by Miss K. Ha-
zlewood. She also had a fine collec-
tion of Irish views, scenic and comic,
loaned by Mrs. Armstrong. Mrs.
Stock's solo, "Kilarney" was much en-
joyed by all. Mrs. Munro, in an able
manner, gave a paper on "Canadian
Laws Pertaining' to Women and
Children", also referring to subjects
now under discussion at Ottawa. The
Potato Peeling contest caused soin
merriment, Mesdames Dickson and
Munro acted as Judges and the prizes
were carried off by Miss K. Hazle-
woodrst., Miss N. Ball 211d., Miss Da-
vidson 3rd. In spite of so much sick-
ness a goodly- number were present
including a new member.
