and above all was a highly respected
citizen of, his home town being of a
very friendly disposition, ever with a
kindly word for all his "fellow -towns-
people.
Up to a year ago he was exception-
ally hale and hearty for his years, be-
ing active and vigorous in the many
tasks he assumed. He was then stri-
cken with illness, and , underwent • a
serolus operation in a Winnpek hos-
pilaf. From the effects Of this'lieral-
lied itt wonderful fashion—and was
very seen around again .seemingly stn
his usual health and strength, Some
months ago he wan again forced to
take to his bed -and for some' time
previous to hisdeath it was known
afnong the immediate' family' and
friends' that ite could not recover
from the deadly disease, ' He accept-
ed the inet$itable 'with great fortitude
and Christian resignation,
just st previotts to 'Eine end ho cXpress-
ed a desire that certain' of his old
friends'' should act as his pallbearers.
Funeral services were held .at the
United Church oil Wednesday after-
noon, Rey, Wm. Reid t officiating-
there being a large number of sorrow-
ing friends present to : pay last.'
