BIG WOMAN—SMALL JAIL CHAOS!
as
When Mrs. Anna Paich--tipping
the scales around, 425 pounds --got
herself within the toils of the law as
an alleged "bootleggeress" recently,
she started something for those, re-
sponsible for her custody in .a certain
California jail.
Brought to the Iaw's boarding hou-

trzall for her bulk to pass through.

But that wasn't the half of -it: They
found herize prohibited her dining
at the regulation tables with other
prisoners ` So they - had to provide 'a
private dining room set for her and
then assign°somebody to wait on her,
Thus, affairs ,of the jail hove been'up-

desperation; they were seriously
thinking of releasing the - lady.

remember too, Joseph said, "It is not
in me, but in God," Here you find
in one sentence himility and faith.
This man Joseph died when he was
one hundred and ten years old. Three
quarters of hi slift he ruled in Egypt,
He knew no short cut to success. He
had presence of mind, but he also had
the presence of Gad. His whole na-

The choir sang, "Your Captain is
calling for you." 'N..
The evening service was well at-
tended, Rev. Mr. Craik preached on
Pontius Pilot "Can 'Ir -man be iieut.al
with the question of Jesus." The text
was taken from Matthew, Chap, 27,
verse 22. !What then shall I do with
Jesus which is called Christ." '1 re
pastorpointed out that neutral ground
in the platter of religion is always un-
safe. Decisive hoarscome to us all.
By God's help we must decide the
question of the soul. Study the life
of Pilate for yourselves.
x. "He knew that for envy the
Jews had delivered Jesus into his
hands."
2. "Why what evil hath this mandone? I find no fault in Him," -
Yet poor Pilate cowardly and by
poeritical could not decide for the
right. He was anchored to his gov-
ernorship, he was afraid of being ban-
ished, "If thou se Jesus Gree, thou
are not Ceasar's friend" seemed to
stun him. He dethroned conscience.
The service was impressive. The
choir sang an appropriate number and
Mr. H. Cooke and Miss Elsie Cooke,
sang a duet, "He died of a broken
heart for me."
