NORTHERN HOCKEY "i.EAGUE
RE-ELECTS ITS OFFICERS
The Northern League at its annual
meeting at ,Palmerston on Tuesday
last, returned to office for the second
year B. L. H. Bamford as president
by acclamation. Other members of
the executive rettirned similarly were
M. C. Bridge, of Wingham, as secre-
tary; Reube Horning, of Palmerston,
treasurer, and Charles Pletch, of Mild-
may, on the executive committee. Eu-
gene Murphy, jr., of Mount 'Forest,
was elected to the office of vice-presi-
dent, while Milton Steinacher, of Dur-
ham and W. M. Lustig, of Chesley,
are the two new faces on the execu-
tive committee.
A. S. Blackburn, of London, was
elected as honorary president.
The amendment to confine the ac-
tivities of ,the N. H. L. to towns of
not more than 5,000 population was
addpted, while that to change the resi-
dence rule. to January z, 1925, and of
all following seasons was defeated,
with the understanding that the N. H.
L. work with the O. H. A., and if con-
ditions such as:'touristing were not
improved by the May x residence rule,
that the early date be adopted in 1926
-1927 series.
The N. H. L. in future will consist
of a junior, intermediate and 'senior
series. The games are to be drawn
at the same time, the senior and inter-
mediate series to be played as one in
the first group.
The group winners shall continue in
the senior series. The teams holding
second place in the group contest
shall continue in the intermediate
series.
The amendment reading players
eligible to play in the junior series
may also play in the senior intermedi-
ate series of the same club carried, as
did the one to change the date of the
annual meeting of the Northern Hoc-
key -League from ,the second Tuesday
in. December to the first Tuesday in
December, while another ruling
that no player shall be eligible to play
unless he has been a bona fide and
continuous resident of the town or
district that the club represents since
the z,5th day of May preceding the
date of the first games. e
Students alone excepted received
the unanimous vote. Of 14 nominees
to the'executive committee, two ball-
ots only were required to secure the
election.
A notice of notion to the next an-
nual meeting was passed without op-
position to charge a 25 -cent per play-
er registration fee in the 1926-1927
season. Mount Forest junior club
produced a satisfactory apology to
the N,''H. L. in connection with their
past bare -faced action in playing men
in the junior series over age and were
'forthwith reinstated.
A vote of thanks and appreciation
was passed 'in favor of Dr. ` Lorne
Robertson andthe officials of the
Stratford Arena' for the service given
the N. H. 'L. hi the senior sudden-
detith play-off in Stratford last winter.
Mr W. E. Howes, who represented
Stratford at the convention, *as given
a hearty reception and his offering in
aid of amateur sport was accorded
hearty apprhvar of the annual.
President Bamford, of Listowel,
was tendered a unanimous vote of
thanks for the services rendered'ihe
N. H. L, in, the past season, as was
also Ruebe Horning, :of Palmerston)
treasurer of the league, both of whom
have been on the N. H. L. executive
in different capacities for many
years. Secretary Bridge, of Wing -
ham, the baby official, also met with
similar treatment plus an honorarium,
of $300. His services in the new role
of secretary were highly commended.
Ripley club was refunded $25 protest
money. All entries for senior, junior
or intermediate series must be in the
!,seeds of Treasurer R. Horning, of
'aln,erston, not later than, December
