A. nation's soul, a oration's
A nation's .Fair traditaona
For these and more our best have died
God -gifted with far vision,
But now a talk of inward foes,
Of weaklings high in power, -
And here anon a clangour rose
That forced the people's hour,
Our fathers' graves are sacrosanct,
Our land we hold in trust;
'Still in that land, the Lord be. thanked
Are honest men and just.
Dead soldiers of our Canada,
With the war -worn standing by
"Guard; well the good of Canada!"
They and their children cry.
A nation's creed, a nation's cry,
A. nat'ion's' swift compelling;
A people's lost "prospc ny
Their sometime fate °foretelling
There are v✓,llo watch a failing land,
So ;blind they will not see:
For faction, not for State, they stand,
Deaf to her needs they be.
God send us upright men and true,
The country's weal their, aim,
`So we may give, them honour due
A great, untarnished name.
Dead soldiers of our Canada,
With the war -worn standing by,

They anditheir children cry.
