Miss Mabel Coultess returned to Toronto. Monday, after 3 weeks visit here. • Wm. McMichael and son, Edgar, were home from Kitchener over the week end. Drs. Ed. and John Coultess of Phil- adelphia returned home this week af- ter a couple weeks vacation with their mother, Mrs. T. Coultess. Mrs. Robt. Elston and daughter, left for their home at West Hope N. D. on Saturday after visiting'with re- latives `around these parts. Mr. Rich Johnston took a load of hogs and one of cattle to Toronto on Saturday. A very enjoyable afternoon was silent at the picnic given • by Mrs. Wmn.. Nicholson on the river flute on Saturday afternoon, the after- noon was spent playing soft ball and bathing and swings for the smaller ones. Stewart of Milton is vis- iting at the home of James Masters at present, Florence and Norman Hall of Wro- xeter, spent a few clays with relatives here. Miss Tena Fitch is visiting with her cousin, Mrs. Gordon Hall this week. Mr. Roy Cantelon of Winghain re- ceived and delivered a car of coal here on Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Of course, some kitchens are so far from the porch that serving a ineal on the porch is really work. But, by making use of the old saying -"Let your head save your heels" - the labor can be lessened and the joy and pleasure from so dining will make the housewife feel amply repaid. A few things to bear in mind in serving meals on the porch, whether ;porch is -'near or far from the kitch- en, are: - 1. Don't make yourself necessary work. 2. Plan simple meals. 3. Set your table prettily -not ex- pensively. 4,: Have a waste basket near you when you clean up, 5., 'Prepare everything • possible ahead of time. Leaving possibly chops or meat and trimmings to be fixed and bread to be cut at the last minute. 6. Have things, that should be cold -Ice Cold! 7. Where possible it helps to use individual trays. 8., Make food look tempting, ,pretty. A little trim goes a long way and even children notice the addition. g. Save steps. Use your tea Wag- on. This pertains to Peaches, Pears, Pineapples, Cherr- ies, Raspberries, Fruit salad, etc. Method: --Pack can in ordinary pail. Use equal parts of Ice and salt. Let it stand 3 hours. Unpack when ready to serve. Dip for a few seconds in hot water. Cut off top of can at one end. Take out fruit, This makes a pretty cylinder of frozen fruit. -0- Blackberry Pot Pie Molasses Dip 1 pints of flour. 2 heaping teaspoons powder. 2 heaping tablespoons of lard. Little salt. Milk. Washed blaekberries. Method::..... Mix dry ingredients. Stir in milk until mixture is thick enough to drop. Put in pan (iron kettle or preserving kettle preferred). Put a layer of fruit and then a layer of bis- cuit dough --alternating. Cover with boiling water and let cook 15 to 20 minutes. Serve hot immediately with either hard sauce or malosses dip or both. Scott, who died suddenly at Andover, Conn., while on a motor trip through the Eastern States with" his wife and daughter, was held here on Thursday, August 13th. • The service was con- ducted at St. Andrew's Church, with a great many friends iri attendance. The deceased had reached the age of 64 years, and up to a few years ago was a resident of Hullett Township.
