The Canadian 'Indepetident...Tele- phone Association, at 'tile concluding session of its annual convntion held in Toronto, Thursday, passed a reso- lution instructing the executive to meet representatives -of the Bell Tele- phone Company to consider the ad- visability of the appointment of . a joint board to deal with Telephone matters in the province. It was . suggested that ,.the membership fees in the association be "increased to meet the salary and expenses of the field pian. T. H. Ashley, of the Bell Telephone Company,said that co-operation was needed among the. Ontario tele- phoile systems, including his own company, so that. much useless over- lapping would be eliminated. One of the obstacles to telephon4 compan- ies, he said, was "free service" when hundreds of people used their neigh - bars' phones.
