FIFTY YEARS AN ODDFELLOW Fortner .esteemed citizen of Wing- harp,• Wni. Robertson, presented with Jewel. The Nanton News' has the following to say of a man highly es- teemed by many readers of the Ad- vance -Times. Golden Link Lodge No. .21, I.O.O- F., held oneof the most interesting meetings since its institution at the regular meeting ori Monday night, when Bro. Wm. Robertson, P. G., of Wingham, Ont., lodge was present- ed with an honorable veteran's ,jewel, signifynig fifty years, of unbroken and faithful service to the order. The je- wel was presented by the brethern of Golden. Link Lodge in recognition of the service he :'has been to this lodge since its institution -eighteen years ago, on which occasion he was one of the •past grands who took part in the ceremonies.. The presentation was made b'p Bro. G. G. Coote, M.P.,, who- was one of the early past grands of Golden Link lodge. A S.A.ILING 'SHIP WITHOUT SAILS Known as the Rotor ship, she is a vessel of 650 tons with twos 'towers 50 Leet high and tenfeet in diameter. These towers are hollow cylinders extending to the ,bottom of the ship and revolving on pivots. Each is driven by a 16 H.P. motor contrained-in it. •herr Anton Plettner, the inventor of the Rotor ship, hasput to pi'^el'cal use the discovery made seventy -eye years ago, that the pre, <-U ng power of wind driven against rafiidly revolving cylinders is - 'much. ,greater than when it acts on a stationary, surface: It is steered by - stopping the rotating of .one of the towers. • One of the br a advan- tages of this ship is thatone man can do the work, whereas a con- siderable crew is required for other ships.
